I discovered this awhile after we got there. If they had been left open the guy would have just come in without warning and I would not have made it into the bathroom. It makes me wonder whether it was a setup with him coming in and stealing my wallet and phone while we were in the bedroom. I don't think so though. I did not get a bad vibe from the lady and she did not try to unlock it later on.

Thinking you can trust a stranger is a bit naive, as history has shown with people getting ripped off a lot here, and some killed, on both sides. Taking anyone to your own home is not too smart, especially seeing they can easily return, again with either side taking a chance.
