Pattaya Urges Red-Light Zoning, Cannabis Rules After BBC Doc

I had a 150 seat Thai restaurant in a city which was 30 minutes commute to London, 99% of our customers were English.

I sold it eight years ago but over the twenty two years I owned it I had nothing bur praise from the customers relating to their experience of visiting Thailand, individuals, couples, families etc, of all ages.

Anyone can put a twist on any place in the world if they wish to and present it in a biased way.

I took a look at the BBC clip above and immediately saw the badly spoken thick presenter was there just to make a name for herself (whoever she is) at the expense of Thailand.

But people are not stupid, they know from their own experience of what Thailand has to offer.

No decent tourists will come to Pattaya while it is seen as ganja city with weed shops on every street corner. Thanks Anutin.

  • This will never stop.Doesnt matter how many tv-series like this it will continue. That said its good the whole world can see what's going on in the socalled family friendly place.

  • The whole place is a red light district, and the only familys you see there are a couple of Russians or Chinese with their kids who probably didnt know what they were letting themselves in for, why wo

Why should families come to Pattaya? Families have the rest of the World to take their boring asses to.

I understand what u mean. But why they calling it a family friendly city?

Apparently its NOT.I haven't visit Pattaya for 13 years so maybe i not fully updated.

I prefer other places to stay in Thailand.NOT Phuket also. When they open the borders for Russians and other countries they imported a big problem but the greedy thai dont care as long as they think trillions of baht will save the economy.

Yes, Phuket is terrible, stay away for your own safety, the Russians are everywhere, out on the hunt to do us harm.

I have even seen them on the very expensive floor area of the Central Shopping center buying the 2000 dollar designer handbags etc, they must be planning to use them as weapons agains us.

I see them when I am doing a daily walk around the reservoir as they walk with the wives and kids, no doubt the kids are there as a decoy in order for them to plan their next evil deed against us and the 99% of Thais who make up the population of Phuket.

They seem clean cut to me, polite, not a tattoo in sight.

On the gated area I live in consisting three hundred houses, there is only one Russian couple with kids, we have all electrified our gates and fences incase they attack us in our sleep, the 99% of Thais who make up the number of people living here are all living in fear.

Don't come stay away, it is not safe.

It is amazing what gossip idiots believe when they are told of the Russian invasion of Phuket.

Oh I know, I am being fooled, the people I think are Thai are actually Russians in disguise. 😄

Are they not checking all the staff that were working on the documentary had the correct visas to do so and their purpose of filming etc was the correct one on the applications for visas .

Because I'm sure they wouldn't have stated on the applications that they were going to film in bars etc and interview sex workers 🤔

Apparently they had 'permission' so I would hope visas were correct.

Traffic is a whole other level, but it has a lot to offer.

It's Aquaria in plural. How many of them are there, and botanical gardens?

What do you suggest they do on the second day of their stay in Pattaya?

More than one, there are dolphin shows as well as aquariums! Go sea fishing. Go cart racing, a trip to an Island, Buddha mountain, the Sanctuary of Truth, Sea walking, a submarine ride, visit Mini Siam,  Art in Paradise, a seafood meal over the sea, see a Ladyboy show (my sister loved it), say hello to moo daeng at the zoo, a huge waterpark just outside town, do ziplining, go jet skiing, a trip to Samaesan island, and then relax by the pool at your 5 star hotel, or even a 4 star one at under 2000 baht a night.

They have a floating market too but it is crap!

They would have had permission but pretty sure you need state what it is you are filming and locations etc.

Well, they could go to:  Underwater World, Dolphinarium, do Go-Carts, Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, Elephant parks, Columbia Pictures Aquaverse Amusement Park, at least 3 waterparks to try, snorkeling boating trips to the nearby islands, movies at Terminal 21 and Central Festival, Ripley's Believe It or Not, Mini Siam, Haunted House, Harborland Kids Zone at T21, Tiger Park, Teddy Bear Museum, Art in Paradise, and lots of other stuff I've forgotten off the top of my head.

As to the UK, hardly a place to shine a negative light on anywhere else, see a few YT posts from Billie Moore to see how low it has become.

Very good observation. The negative microcosm of a tiny area, relative to the size of Thailand, is a poor excuse for journalism. The truth is, if millions of people come to Thailand, it's more useful to report how many of the millions actually visit this street and why.

BBC what? I am sure this primadonna spoiled little brat love island celebrity wannabe would have got at least two viewers on this unwatched channel

No,apparently it was largely viewed in the Uk as thailand is very popular there , mostly for dirt cheap exotic holidays with a bit of naughtiness thrown in. Everyone knows what Thailand is famous for, and it’s not the beaches or the temples.

Nobody in the UK is even talking about this. It was not shown on any BBC mainstream channel, but rather a secondary off beat channel. They are always making sensationalist documentaries like this - be it Dubai, China, Vegas, etc

There is always a bit of a brouhaha after one of these documentary type things is aired, amusingly more so in Thailand than where it was aired. Trying to make Thailand look bad over the UK is more than wasted on me!

Fair call Jacko, but most of the suggestions are not covered by travel insurance. Badly behaving dolphins, spitting moo daeng, seafood banquets fighting the Chinese, ladyboys mingling with the audience after the show to relieve you of the gold chain or watch, jetsking accidental damage, and don't forget the topless European 65+ year old women poolside followed by Central Pattaya after midnight.

There. That is day #1 sorted.🙃🙃

Still, it beats Rhyl on a bank holiday weekend!

They've done documentaries on Dubai too.

It is what it is.

I've always said they need to address the open solicitation of prostitutes on beach road. Indian men, especially seem to have taken it to another level. How do you explain to your child why 6 indian men are surrounding one woman pressuring her to give them a discount - and yes i am not making that up, it happens to many times. In times gone by things would be a little more discreet, but the Indian guys there have ramped it up without any shame.

So essentially you have no go areas for families.

Well yes, if one doesn't want your kids in the midst of this sort of thing, Soi 6 would also qualify. These are mostly night time events,  Also, perhaps get the little ones tucked in early and up fresh for an early morning trip to Nong Nooch.

In the words of Dr Zachary Smith....." Oh, the pain.....the pain."🙃🙃

They should build a 'Trannytown' and sequester the transsexuals and their ilk there.  Could use some sort of shock collars to keep them from escaping into the surrounding population.  Tourists could gather on the periphery and photograph the sideshow for the family back home.
