A violent attack occurred backstage during a Mor Lam performance by the “Dok Mei Phen Napa” troupe in Kamalasai district, Kalasin province, late on 19 September 2025, leaving the performers shaken and one sent to hospital. The incident caused chaos at the event as local gang members confronted the team following a dispute.

The disturbance began when a group of youths climbed onto speakers during the show, prompting the lead singer, Dok Mei Phen Napa, to issue a warning. The warning angered the local gang, who subsequently rushed backstage and assaulted the troupe’s crew. While all crew members only suffered minor injuries, Dok Mei Phen Napa was reportedly stressed to the point of requiring hospital care.

Organisers and authorities confirmed that the troupe intends to file a formal police complaint to ensure legal action is taken against all perpetrators. Local law enforcement will investigate the attack thoroughly and gathered evidence from witnesses and available security footage.

Moving forward, police will continue their investigation, identify those involved, and proceed with charges in line with the law. The troupe is expected to resume performances once the singer is fit enough.

Key Takeaways

• Gang members assaulted a Mor Lam crew backstage during a Kalasin performance.

• Lead singer Dok Mei Phen Napa was hospitalised due to stress from the incident.

• Police investigations and formal complaints are underway to pursue legal action.

I've mentioned this several times before, we were staying with a friend in Yasathon many years ago. She invited us to stay at her home as there was a 2 day festival there. The first day all the locals were hammered well before lunch time. A big brawl broke out around 2 pm with spot fires everywhere. The BIB's took a while to respond as they were probably draining out the whiskey tent. The next day it started off quiet but there where guys everywhere carrying all sorts of tools for the Thai way of fighting. Some had machetes, long knives, one even had a sword  but the preferred weapon was a broken off beer bottle neck. My friend even escorted me when I went to the toilet. Without notice an extra large brawl broke maybe 100 guys were involved. This went on for about 10 minutes when a hero decided to ride his motor bike into the brawl at a decent speed. He came to a dead end and quickly got reduced to pulp by the mob. This time the BIB's were slower to intervene, obviously the whiskey tent had been well stocked up from the previous day, I've lived in Thailand for 25 years, I have a Thai wife who comes from Korat. She has 6 brothers so I've seen some goings on in my time. Thai men from up the country drink Lao Kaow the way we drink beer. It has a very high alcohol content so when they get drunk they get totally s**t faced and they either pass out or start brawling.

Oh this is a shocking thing to read , violence is not the answer ,these young men have too much testereone

This is why I believe they must be given female hormones at a younger age to curb all this anger !!

The guy in the white T-shirt was the one who put a stop to it, he is a former mauy thai fighter (read it in thai thread). He put a couple of guys down very quickly with a punch. In the video one of the gang pulls out a knife but backed off as a BIB was on the scene.

Sounds like Lao Kaow affects blokes in Australia the same way  when they drink too many Bundy rums and all they want to do is fight

Went to something very like this in our village just like week.......huge fight broke out......I found it quite distressing......I'd got fed up and left before it all kicked off......wife didn't even film it.

Maybe being a public entertainer might not be the right lifestyle for Dok.
