When they leave you notes in the locker room, which happened to me three times, then you start to watch your back, literally. If you smile at a man , and then he scowls at you, you don't tell him to leave you alone, as that scowl should have told you what he was thinking. Foreigners sitting next to other foreigners in Thailand happens all the time, as they feel more at home being around their own kind, even if they aren't there to talk. If you like other men, as you seem to attract ladyboys quite often, just start a conversation with them, instead of pushing them away and saying it was a brutal attack. September 23, 2025Sep 23 I was in the gym today doing some bicep curls. A younger thai guy walked right up near me and started fiddling with some weights near the floor. Only me and that one guy in there. It's not normal to approach another man when he is lifting. It requires space and a safe area. That understanding pretty much spans cultures. He was probably a homosexual. I had to actually move away while in mid set as it was uncomfortable looking at him in the mirror that close. He also did some loud grunting later on while working another machine that sounded kind of sexual. There are a lot of gays in the gym. I stopped going in there when Thai's are in there and even leaving if they come in. There's something weird about working out with them. It's hard to believe that many Thai guys are gay though. Maybe it has something to do with being in Central Pattaya, but I get that vibe quite often in the gym here.

Well, that's not a mistake unless it's an extremely crowded gym. Maybe it's guys fu@king with you. Kind of like kicking sand in your face at muscle beach. From my experience, a lot of it comes down to confidence or just your presence, they notice it and want to be near it, even if it’s awkward. Honestly, the best thing is just to set boundaries like you did, move away or speak up; most people will back off once they realize you’re not interested in their attention. Social media and this “always needing to be near someone” mindset definitely make it worse, but at the end of the day, protecting your space is totally fair.
