Annoying adds

Featured Replies

So what adds annoy you most ? mine are the beauty products aimed at young men on Youtube and the one where a fat git burps after eating some meds, Normally while I'm eating ...

The only thing that annoys me here are Thai drivers ,nearly

every time I venture on the roads 1 or more of them ,does

something stupid and tries to kill me.  I only worry about

things that can kill me , everything else is of no concern ......

So when did ADDS become DRIVERS.  Bit off topic Geordie.

Here in Samui it is those trucks with the loudspeakers that drive around all day blurting out adverts for the next Muay Thai fight, some Israeli night club, or Capybara Café. They slowly drive a set route, turn around and come back again. Same blurb at full volume. A pain in the arse and the ears.

There are Israeli nightclubs in Ko Samui?

Recently shopping with my other half has become (more) tedious.   The background music ('elevator music') in Big C supermarket has been replaced with an annoying 'Big C, Oh Big C' jingle .  We went to TMK today - and now they have got in on the act with their own TMK earworm on short rotation. I pity the staff - it is a cruel and unusual torture!

I understand why they would do this, saving money by not playing copywritten music - but it is an incredibly annoying type of advertising!

Try going to Don Don Donki and listing to their corporate jingle, again and again.

Anything of a pop-up nature is ridiculously annoying. Very intrusive.

Also when I am forced to watch TV when I'm hanging out with friends, I insist on holding the remote control so I can mute all commercials, same goes for radio. Now if the sponsors start paying me $75 per ad, I'll watch them and listen to them all day long.

Thank you for this wonderful example of a required ADD.

You can go to bed again now.

All and every ads annoy me.

I block them all whenever I can.

ADs are totally pointless and counter productive IMO.

You do know the ads fund the TV and radio?

It's called "opportunity costs." The advertising allows us to use the forum at no cost and the owner still makes money. Quite fair by my reckoning

Bingo, hosting a site is not free.

I don't care what they fund and waste their money on.

That is their problem not mine!

I feel anyone should be able to add anything, provided what is added is within forum rules.

I am not saying that I read all adds, mind you.

Most people do not read my adds, for example.

Not my issue. I can make a conscious choice to ignore them, and at the very minimum mute them.

At least one. I think it is called Roza, or something like that. It's along from the old Reggae Pub on Chaweng Lake. There is also a small Israeli soi, where quite a few shops cater to them. It runs between Chaweng Beach Road and where the big Chaweng Police station is situated.

As I stated in my original reply, they have one of those pick up trucks with the loudspeakers in the back, driving around slowly, blaring out adverts for the club, along with loud what I presume is Israeli house music. It's not just them. There are quite a few, advertising different businesses or events at full blast.

They assault the ears and hold up traffic because they drive so slowly.
