A newborn baby boy was found abandoned inside a fertiliser sack outside a factory in Songkhla and later died while being rushed to hospital. The incident occurred early on 4 October in front of an animal feed processing plant on Kao Seng–Chana Road, Khao Rup Chang subdistrict, Muang district. Police have launched an urgent investigation to find the person responsible.

Rescue workers from Sawang Songkhla Ruamjai Foundation were called at around 07:55 after reports of a newborn found in a rubbish skip, near the factory parking area. Locals had discovered the baby in a white fertiliser sack, with the umbilical cord still attached, showing weak breathing. The infant was wrapped in a black T-shirt and a sarong, placed inside an additional plastic bag. Rescue teams attempted first aid before rushing the newborn to Songkhla Koh Yo Hospital, but the baby died before arrival.

Witnesses reported that a waste picker first discovered the sack while searching through rubbish. Noticing a strong smell of blood, he opened it to find the infant inside and laid him on the ground before alerting factory security and police.

Pol Col Jamlong Suwalak, superintendent of Muang Songkhla Police Station, said investigators were collecting evidence, reviewing CCTV footage, and attempting to identify whether the person responsible was Thai or a foreign migrant worker. The suspect remains unknown.

Authorities have urged anyone with information to assist the investigation. The police emphasised the seriousness of the case, noting the act is being treated as a potential homicide. The search for the person who abandoned the newborn is ongoing.

So sad that infants are disposed of so easily in Thailand. No motherly love or attachment as the fetus grows inside them. This says a lot about the mentality of children raised in Thailand giving them such low morals for life.

Thailand should offer money for mothers by now as the country has a serious demographic problem, they need every child they can get

You mean ALL of the Thai people?

These despicable acts happen ONLY in Thailand?

This type of attitude says a lot about the mentality of a few posters around, IMHO

No fatherly love as the fetus grows inside the woman he abandoned.

These sad stories will continue until the government supports these young mothers.

In the west the government would provide social security and welfare payments (thousands of dollars after the birth) for these young mothers, government would garnish the fathers wages, the woman may be on maternity leave, she has income but sadly in Thailand these very POOR young woman (girls) have no money to support herself and her baby.

It's so easy to make nasty, hateful comments towards the mothers but most times the father has abandoned her, these girls have no one to turn to for support, sadly they make wrong decisions in life.

Shame on Thailand for not providing for these young mothers.

For a country to get out of developing status they need to protect women. Thailand still hasnt done that

And why do you put words into my post? I think it is you saying ALL... ONLY... Because I did not...You can try to twist the post to suit your wants to insult the mentality of posters in here. But it really just shows your ignorance

hmm.. maybe fatherly love. But surely not by her mate that helped produce the baby. Either way.. Can blame the man but ultimately, there is no support for pregnant women in distress over having an apparently unwanted child.

I guess you have misunderstood me miserably!

I've never ever posted a Thai bashing post yet. Thailand is not 100% but it is one of the most beautiful places on earth and its people are lovely and tolerant than most nationalities - one realize this especially when reading posts herein at AN... IMHO

Not like the caring mothers in the west who just have multiple abortions instead.

Where did you meet your girl?

It is likely this kid did not come from a Thai woman but from a foreigner woman.

Whats more offensive to you, an abortion or finding a newborn in a dumpster?

Exactly, those caring mothers have a place to go to get rid of the fetus rather than abandoning the child after birth in.a trash bin. Which happens all too often in Thailand. You would not see this in the west.

The University of Nottingham has a slightly different view, according to  research done by some academics.  These are complicated issues that exist on this planet, where the average layman has no real knowledge.

Researchers have called for a consistent and supportive approach to child abandonment in Europe to protect the welfare of the hundreds of youngsters given up by their parents every year.

Academics from the Centre for Forensic and Family Psychology at The University of Nottingham conducted a two-year project exploring child abandonment and its prevention across the 27 countries of the European Union.

The study, funded by the European Commission’s Daphne programme, looked at children who were both openly left for adoption at maternity units and those secretly abandoned, including the use of controversial ‘baby hatches’ in some European countries to allow mothers to leave their babies anonymously.

So sad. You never had a chance. Rest in peace little one.

How many babies are aborted in the US?  The crack the head open and suck out it's brain.  This is not despicable??

I find both offensive, but abortions are allegedly as high as 40% of all conceptions in the west, whereas abandoned babies are around 10-20 per year in Thailand.

20% in the US  as of 2022. 700-800 babies abandoned yearly in Thailand. 150-200 newborns abandoned............Happens a lot in SE Asia..............https://theaseanpost.com/article/southeast-asias-baby-dumping-problem

The article you attached regarding the Singapore baby says...

Local police are still searching for the parents of the abandoned baby and they could face up to seven years imprisonment

This is good to read, searching for the parents, the articles I read regarding Thai abandoned babies it is reported police only searching for the mother, when they should be searching for the parents, both should be accountable.
