Fascism

Featured Replies

Watching the world’s foremost democratic republic descend into a fascist, authoritarian regime is heart breaking. I honestly never thought it could happen. If we recover from this, historians will look back at how it came about, no doubt with references to Hitler’s Germany. History repeating itself is something we hear but don’t believe because we feel we have moved so much forward it could never happen again. I guess not.

It gets a little bit tiresome to be called fascists  when the Government is enforcing law made by a Congressional bi partisian effort enacted decades ago.

The usual characters USA far left extremists ,Antifa:

"Individuals involved in the movement subscribe to a range of left-wing ideologies, and tend to hold anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist, and anti-state views. A majority of individuals involved are anarchists, communists, and socialists,[7] although some social democrats also participate in the antifa movement.

Ai overview:

The U.S. is a representative democracy because its citizens elect officials to represent them in government

I am not saying the government is delegitimized. Of course they won the election. What we are seeing is that leverage being used for fascist purposes. Which the majority seem to support.

Calling   fascism  by the usual comminist /socialist  is delegitimizing a administration who won through a democratic process . It stands to reason the dark forces of Kill US /Burn US would come to that conclusion .

You people never mention past millions upon millions being deported by administrations of the past.

they are still required to conduct themselves within that same structure... this is not happening

Not sure what that means, but governments, suggesting democratic ideals, will represent everyone.

translation into English, please

Shadow dockets, unsigned, unsupported from the likes of Amy Barrett are undermining the laws set by congress and giving Trump opportunities the constitution was designed to prevent.....exactly what happened in Germany......THE DUEL STATE

The Dual State by Ernst Fraenkel, a German Jewish labor lawyer who fled the Nazis in 1938. Fraenkel’s book analysed how the Nazis had created two coexistent legal systems.

There was the normative one that kept the economy of Germany running as usual. And then there was the separate legal system that operated alongside it, in which anyone deemed an enemy of the regime was stripped of all rights and subjected to arbitrary violence.

In the footnote, Jackson quotes The Dual States’s description of the way unchecked power is incompatible with the rule of law:

See E Fraenkel, The Dual State, pp xiii, 3, 71 (1941) (describing the way in which the creation of a ‘Prerogative State’ where the Executive ‘exercises unlimited arbitrariness … unchecked by any legal guarantees’ is incompatible with the rule of law)

It doesn't really matter if it's technically fascism or not.

Fascism isn't one thing.

It manifests itself very differently at different times in different cultures.

What does matter is that RIGHT NOW the USA has declined into a radically authoritarian situation and technically fascism or not, is kind of like stressing over the differences between breeds of dogs. They're all dogs.

I realize many or most of the magas love this. That's their right but those that love this are not even close to a majority of Americans.

In my view, anyone talking about the USA reality now that denies the authoritarianism (or whatever similar label that you find more to your liking) has ZERO credibility and engaging with such people is generally a waste of time as such people are usually in the CULT. Maybe exceptions if you're a professional cult deprogrammer. Maga people converted are not going to save American democracy if it is going to be saved. It will need to be a coalition of everyone else including traditional conservative republicans, independents, the apolitical, etc.

Have a good day

BYE BYE

People get the definition of "fascism" completely wrong these days and have no idea of what it was really like in its hay-day. People these days get called fascist for being center-ground or mildly right, or even slightly to the right of Stalin. Anyone who uses the word "fascist" for anything other than the most extreme of the extreme like ISIS is showing a complete ignorance and misunderstanding of history. People that call others in democratic societies a fascist are usually far-lefties that don't understand what real fascists are. Leaders like Trump or Farage you can have your opinion on, but they are not fascists.

The original "fascist" was Mussolini and his black stirts, not Hitler's Germany, as they were national socialists... I know, kind of an inconvenient truth for many. At the time, fascism was actually quite fashionable and Italy was praised by many for having such an effective system. Hitler's Germany adopted it, but the difference was that the Nazis believed in an Aryan race, and fascism locking in well with that, hence the future killing.

The problem is that the word "fascist" has been popularized and is thrown around so much that most people no longer realise it's true meaning... its meaning and significance has been diminished and trivialized. The closest thing to fascists now is extreme Islamic terrorists like ISIS or somewhere like North Korea. If you want an example of far-left fascism, then look at the Soviet Union under Stalin, the NKVD, 1930s purges, Bolshevics etc. People now have no idea of the terror and suffering inflicted by these 20th century entities compared to society now... it was complete and utter terror and oppression back then, and not even close to the mild stuff we see today.
