Influential political figure Newin Chidchob has expressed support for Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to continue leading Thailand for another four years post the next general election. The announcement came during Newin's 67th birthday celebration at Chang Arena in Buri Ram, attended by senior members of the Bhumjaithai Party and governing coalition. Newin entered the venue with flair, riding a motorcycle, and engaged in traditional rituals, pointing out the importance of the occasion.

The birthday celebration drew attention with appearances from key political figures like Saksayam and Pol Gen Permpoon Chidchob, Newin's brothers. A traditional blessing ceremony involving elephants symbolised a wish for prosperity, where Newin personally blessed Anutin for a full-term premiership.

Despite this public gesture of support, Anutin played down immediate political ambitions, stating his focus remains on completing his current term.

The ceremonial praise from Newin aligns with Bhumjaithai's broader electoral ambitions. Anutin emphasised the importance of delivering results and gaining public trust, recognising Newin's vocal support as encouragement. While Anutin downplayed speculation about his political trajectory, his leadership remains crucial ahead of upcoming elections.

Key Takeaways:

  • Newin Chidchob endorsed PM Anutin for another four-year term.
  • The event was a blend of celebration and political significance.
  • Anutin focused on current goals, while Newin highlighted Bhumjaithai ambitions.

well i gues that is up to the people in 4 months time

I hope thailand can get what they voted  ................ never give up

The boss man has spoken; obey or else.

Democracy will never rule in Thailand as the hiso minority will never allow it.

Well... at least the grown-up Men appears to be back in charge now .... 🤭😆..and Thaksin's DEI team is out..

Being a foreigner, I must say that Anutin's team looks more technically and visually credible than the prior administration which were clearly staffed by old cronies, nepotism and visually looked weak/comical on international stage .... as exposed in the Cambodian war.

Happy for Thailand.

They may get to vote for a specific party, however it's not up to the public as to who gets the PM seat

The only problem is that the BJT has to win the elections, and I am almost sure that they will not

I thought this corrupt human being was banned from politics?

This is a huge mistake, a very regressive decision, and Anutin  is likely the last man in the world that should be leading Thailand right now, other than cannabis he's not progressive, and just the fact that he was part of the junta government should automatically disqualify him.

Bit rough on the Thai people who actually voted for someone else, virtually anyone else actually, but at least you are happy!

Good to see that cronies and nepotism no longer have a place!

Maybe, but so was Thaksin....

Anutin's cabinet appears to be a good blend of experience and ability. Like him or loathe him he looks set for a full term. Not exactly a democratic choice, but most Thais will be prepared to accept him so long as he does a good job.

He is corrupt to the core. Agreed to be a caretaker Prime Minister for 4 months until new elections are held and the constitutional revision gets under way. When the election occurs he is going to be in for a shock. His party is not loved at all anymore. Most Thai's accept him as a caretaker. Not many would like to see him as a full time PM. The Thai's are happy new elections are coming and are even more happy to be done with the PT party and Mrs. Ing.

Touching. Such innocence.

How many Thai PMs have actually served a full term?

His odds aren't great.

Happy for Thailand.

You've got to be joking, this lot are the epitome of corrupt, nepotistic, gangsters and criminals. You really need to look a bit closer at their ministerial line-up and the scandals they've previously been involved in.

The good news is BhumjaiThai from memory barely got in the region of 2 million votes last election compared to 14 million each for Move Forward and Pheu Thai. As much as they are renowned for it, it will take jerrymandering on a colossal scale for BJT to win an electoral majority.

TIT. The winner of the next election will not be the winner because it'll be PP. No reformists allowed to govern. Even if PP win by a c;lear and huge majority the CC and EC, the protectors of the establishment, will come up with something. Protest will ensue and the military will step in. Welcome to the next coup in Thailand.

Assuming of course that there will be an election in 4 months time and that the BJT win an overall majority of  seats and form a single party government.

It also assumes that the CC and the EC (and the military) agree with it.

I don't think that the PP can win an overall majority, nor do I think that the PTP should be written off just yet.

Votes are irrelevant. They're already planning the next 4 years regardless
