AN members should all chip in and get a Xmas present for Sheryl as she has helped so many people on here.

I've plucked and stuffed my Christmas turkey already.   All I have to do now is kill it. 🙂

The C (or X) word should not be used until 1st December.

There are already ads on UK TV, even before Halloween and Bonfire Night. Sad.

Heard Xmas music at a mall in Hua hin the other day.  But, I think they have no clue it is in fact for Xmas.

I wish EVERY DAY could be Christmas.....

I wish All of us could be Gay....

I wish I were in Vermont, this Christmas Eve.

And, I wish I had a Christmas Ham, too.

THOSE were the days.....!!!!

(Just five years after WW2)

I'm trying to get into the spirit by making my Christmas cakes, trouble is each time I want to soak the fruit in a mix or rum and brandy, it seems to disappear before I can use it.

It's either my wife or the dogs drinking it

I would never do such a thing :burp:

No worse than hearing it around Halloween in the US. It's for us expats, to make us feel more at home, and to buy Christmas things, which is a money maker worldwide, even in a country mostly devoid of Christianity.

What has Xmas got to do with Christianity?

Let's play coy, shall we? You may not believe it, but surely you've heard the story many times before.

CHRISTmas, meaning Jesus' birthday which is celebrated, unlike what we've seen all our lives, giving gifts to others. At least many songs are about the right things. And I'm sure that was sarcasm.

That's impressive. Not everyone can claim they were an ass all the way back to primary school.

Anything more than two weeks of Christmas makes me want to gag.

Agree ...............it spoils what used to be such a special event.....even for non-believers.

Obviously traders push and push and push for trade, but I'd love to see a ban on anything related to Christmas until Dec 1....say

“Ass” was the standard English term for centuries, especially in King James Bible and Shakespearean texts (“Thou art as stubborn as an ass”).

•  “Donkey” emerged around 1785, possibly from “dun” (grayish color) + “monkey” (playful suffix).

As I went to school after 1785 I'm going with donkey

October is about the countdown to Halloween. The shift in the afternoon to more shadows and earlier sunsets enhances the feeling. Then, it's the push to Thanksgiving. After that, and only after that, comes the lead up to Christmas.
