The bottom photo....

Is that a wigwam in the middle of the field?

Perhaps, a Thanksgiving Wigwam?

No worse than hearing it around Halloween in the US. It's for us expats, to make us feel more at home, and to buy Christmas things, which is a money maker worldwide, even in a country mostly devoid of Christianity.

Seeing as how both countries seem to be devoid of Christianity these days, I like a little Christmas music. To me, it's not Christmas until I hear 'The Little Drummer Boy.'

Grew up with all of them and I like Hark the Herald Angels Sing, and remember it from A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Judging by the posts here, many people have finished off the Christmas spirits and are well into the Easter chocolate liqueurs.

Never had Xmas spirt, till having daughter.  That was short lived, as about 5 yrs old, she asked me if Santa was real.  The moment I asked ... 'Do you really want to know ?'   She knew she screwed herself :cheesy:

My son: "Dad, there really isn't a Santa Claus, is there?" (Said more as a statement, not a question.)
Me: "Well, kiddo... once you find out for sure, you stop getting presents."
My son, without skipping a beat: "Dad, would you please tell Santa I'd like some new ski boots?"

If nothing else, he was pragmatic!

Thailand was a better place before all you Farangs brought Christmas to a Buddhist country.  Now all the girls want gifts.

I hear you. I started giving my partner's niece's and nephew's two kids a Christmas box. Now there's six of them. !!

October is about the countdown to Halloween. The shift in the afternoon to more shadows and earlier sunsets enhances the feeling. Then, it's the push to Thanksgiving. After that, and only after that, comes the lead up to Christmas.

Depends on which hemisphere you live in.

No, to earley.

Bugger off.

We call it Lavo, but if you brought it to America, I'm sure you would called it A Wigwam. Bear in mind this is a modern set up with modern fabric and materials, and not an indigenous traditional Lavo.

A "lavo" (or lavvu) is a traditional, conical tent used by Indigenous peoples in Northern Europe, constructed from poles and animal hides or fabric, while a wigwam is a dome-shaped or elongated dwelling with a wooden frame covered by bark or mats, historically used by Indigenous peoples in Eastern North America. The fundamental difference is their geographic origin, construction materials, and the cultures that created and used them as traditional shelters.

when it's a yurt.

Yurts seem much more cosy (cozy in the UK).

Yurts are good down to negative-60-degrees C.

Yurts are what you need for the frigid Christmas weather we are now experiencing.

Temu is already in the spirit. Unfortunately most of the time their stuff is crap that breaks down after a month. Not to mention the awful delivery service with parcels arriving torn and goods damaged.

I had this album when I was 14. Such clever lyrics. Brilliant.

Oh, you all mean celebrate commercially the birthday of the little brat that popped out of his virgin mother after she was impregnated by your God?

Thanks, but no thanks.....

What an "Xmas?"
