New car from the dealership how much mileage

Featured Replies

Hi folks I’m looking into buying a new car.

but one thing I’m concerned is the mileage when they hand over the keys to me.

I don’t want a new a car that’s been ridden by somchai for like 100-200km on the clock.

So what’s the mileage like when u actually got it?

and one more thing, I don’t want that stupid big ribbon thingy placed on my car and take a photo with them. What’s the point? I can say no and they will leave me alone?

I would like my new car to be as fresh as possible without dirty somchais touching it..,

Don'tbe too concerned about a few kilometres.

MAKE SURE it is a 2025.

A guy at the gym bought a new car April this year, when it was registered and he received the book, it was 2023 in the cars blue book

What is the acceptable km? I could possibly accept if it’s less than 50km but 100km+? What were they joy riding ? I assume they get tow racked from the manufacturer to the dealer, and those mileages shouldn’t be there in the first place. It’s just ain’t fresh anymore with thais putting their dirty hands on it…

my honest opinion

Yes, I understand your concern.

Not sure about a tow truck, maybe it was used to pick up the lunches everyday

I've bought several new cars in Thailand, the odometer was always just 10's of kilometres.

I've never worried about the odometer reading, I probably should be though

What if they thoroughly washed their hands with soap and water first?

Why even respond to such racist BS?

The forum name says it all.

How can one live in a country with such contempt for people and customs.

Good to have distance and anonymity in such a forum.

Maybe you can arrange to go down to the docks and pick it up before it goes on the transporter ? …… that is presuming you don’t want it made, or assembled, here ??, dirty somchais and all that ….

If you opt for tinted windows and some other accesories that are not from the dealer itself,

they will drive it to the workplace where they fit those things.

Be more worried about if they clean it before handing it over, be extremely worried AFTER you receive

your new car , because the thai ( and foreigners in touristy places) , will damage it with their cardoors,

bags , shopping carts, ...

big ribbon thingy ?? Never heard or seen that.

What limit did you specify on the sales contract for number of km, likewise did you specify that you will only accept cars that are no older than 90 days from the sales contract

I have seen reports in Thai media of dealers trying to dump old stock onto customers

customers that have taken out finance have an easier path to reject the car and request a new replacement as finance wouldn't finance a 15 month old car on the same deal as a 90 day old car

If it did have a couple of hundred kilometers on it, they should be selling it as a demonstrator at a discount.

I bought a car recently, 300 kms on the clock, current model year. It had only been used for surburban test drives and was in mint condition.

The price I paid was 7.5% off the new price, drive away, no more to pay, with a full tank of fuel and six months registration remaining.

A friend bought a different vehicle. It was the best price she could find online anywhere, in a color she had to have. It had 4000 kilometers, current year, but was mostly driven by the dealer's wife. Excellent condition, discounted as a demonstrator, and still with the new car smell.

You tell them you're not a ribbon kind of guy, and they will take it off. My car had the ribbon on it. I said I didn't need to post a pic online, so it was removed immediately. If you are married, then maybe your wife would like a pic if she is at the handover.

Or dealer specific stickers on it.

Will you be getting the "dirty somchais" to be servicing it?

Apt username by the way.

I don't think "dirty Somchai" holds a candle to "dirty Sanchez"🤔
