Uk Banks and Specifically Lloyds Bank Branch closures

Featured Replies

Yes, have seen a lot of news over the last few years of LLoyds of this bank closing branches and still pay huge bonuses to their staff and we all bailed them out in 2008.
Has anyone experienced this and I think as it is all digital does the same bank code and account prevail and not until May 2026.
IMHO the accounts and sort codes will be the same and transferred to the nearest branch, but everything the same?

Here in Thailand the  SCB branch shut down in Danmakhamtia and everything transferred to Kanchanaburi and the same code and account numbers and would think that would be the case with LLoyds.

We also know so many things are totally digital and a real pain for our proof of life verification.
thanks all and appreciate any help with those in the same situation.

All U.K. banks are shedding staff and going over to machines for paying in and drawing money ,it’s getting rare to see a woman teller ,and any staff, especially in Lloyds banks and HSBC.

and many branches are closing to save money when everyone is using their phone for banking these days, the elderly are suffering at the change

Yes, indeed many are not in to modern technology but think accounts possibly stay the same ie account numbers and sort code AND  a frozen State pension.
Thanks for your reply 3 NUMBAS

I actually believe it's government policy to try and force a cashless (and more controllable) society.

Trying to find out and yes no such thing as an e-- mail address and will have to send a letter to the bank, which may or not get there.
Thanks for reply BritManToo  and we know they all hate us!!!

At what age do you class someone as elderly please?

Retirees at 65 I guess ,but some folks are dumb as they age so it’s hard to be specific about their mental state

Even if (when) your Lloyds branch closes, your account number and sort code remain unchanged.

Very sad, Lloyds was always my UK bank. Sad to see the black horse taken to the butchers.

Me too - since 1976!  That said, they're still good and living in Thailand means I'm entirely unaffected by local branch closures.

Yes still got your account with LLoyds and still got the same account and sort code

Yes when bank closes you just carry on as usual with the bank app or use cash tills by others, there’s always a number to call.

remaining branches are mostly staff less ,you could stay in the branch All nite for a kip on the floor with your flask of tea and sandwiches
