"And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

Mathew 19:24

I wonder how the church leaders explained that one away?

A Baptist minster, a Catholic priest and a Jewish Rabbi were discussing their use of donations to their ministries,

The Baptist minister said, "I keep 25% of donations for myself, the rest is used for the parishioners.

The Catholic Priest said, "I keep 25% of donations for myself, 25% is sent to the Vatican, the rest is spent on the parish.

The Jewish Rabbi said, "I throw all donations in the air, God takes what he wants and leaves the rest for me"

  • "holy spirit fire power" "encouraged to donate money with promises of divine blessings proportional to their contributions."   What crap. People still believe this bunkum?

  • Surely every religious establishment could be accused of misleading teachings?

  • Religions and Cults, on the take. Oh my, how unusual.

It is easy if you ever read the Bible instead of using an abbreviated quote. The full quote finishes with

"And Jesus beholding, said to them: With men this is impossible: but with God all things are possible. "

Suggest you spend some time reading all of the Gospels, it could improve your attitude

You mean there isn't an imaginary entity that created and controls all  :w00t:

You do not know much about the Catholic Church and its teachings. What we are are talking about is the "evangelist churches" that use their tax free status to increase wealth.

The Catholic church evangelizes (actually the term evangelist churches is not mentioned by the OP - try control F on your keyboard to find out). Read the history of Thailand. It was the Catholic Church that told people their sins could be forgiven for money paid. These links might help you https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indulgence

As per Wiki: The recipient of an indulgence must perform an action to receive it. This is most often the saying (once, or many times) of a specified prayer, but may also include a pilgrimage, the visiting of a particular place (such as a shrine, church, or cemetery), or the performance of specific good works.[

No mention of money there.

The Reformation was a little  bit before my time so not relevant to today.

Church...yes, it's something foreign so of course it's bad but maybe an idea to clean up their own religious Etablissements before complaining about a minority church......... 2017–2020 Thai temple fraud investigations - Wikipedia

What are you on about? This is about Thai people complaining a bout a Thai church. It is one of "THEIR" own religious establishments. 🙄

Seems so.

Why not tell us the church. We have a "Christian" church near us that has lots of money and just built a big new school for 4 students under 5 years old.

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

You fault the OP for not naming the church he is talking about in his post, yet you did not name the church near you that you mentioned in your own post.

The fact is that, given Thailand's defamation law and and its interpretation by the courts, both of you acted giudiciously by not naming the churches.

Sounds like it is a Catholic Church. They sold indulgences (pay money to have your sins washed away), which led to the Protestant Reformation and was formally banned by the Catholic Church in 1567. Not that the Catholic Church since has followed rules it didn't like.

.. or were unethical or immoral.
