Can anyone recommend an English speaking, computer shop in Pattaya that could sort his problem out? Thanks in anticipation.

They’re stored in the web browser, in the settings/passwords. The last thing anyone wants to do is to take a computer to a shop to retrieve passwords, it would be wise to scraping them and starting over instead.

Yes the passwords might be stored in the web browser  and there are programs that can recover those.

It would indeed be unwise to let a computer shop recover passwords unless you could sit there and watch them like a hawk but even that is no guarantee that they could not steal your passwords

The recommended shop is called Pattaya2U

it is located behind the Tukcom building in South Pattaya near the multi storey parking lot.

A map for you.

They moved some time ago. Go into the street left from Tukcom. Some 50 meter behind Tukcom on the right side is their new shop.

Thank you to those who replied. Much appreciated.

I highly recommend   Bitwarden.   Only one master password to remember, so you can make it as obscure and long as you like.

Most things that need a password have the option to make a new one if you forgot it.

I have have a PASSWORD BOOK - my address book with extra pages, for around 30 years.  Website and passwords, that are long gone, are still in my book.

If you're using Chrome call up the Password Manager    chrome://password-manager/passwords

In Edge it's the Microsoft Password Manager  edge://settings/autofill/passwords

That's ok if you know the password.

OK...but has your friend got a password on the actual browser?

If not, and he can open the browser, then he can still open the relevant password manager.

If he has, then, yes you're correct.

It is not my friend in trouble.

Even if you are signed into a browser, you may have to provide the password again to access the password manager.

The OP said "all passwords", some passwords should be kept separate otherwise a recovery tool may be the only option.

If it's a PC, the shop that was suggested behind Tukcom in Pattaya can probably get your data recovered.  If it's not a PC, they may struggle with the OS, as they couldn't even connect my laptop to a new router.

However, once you go Mac, you never go back.   iCloud takes care of that PW safekeeping.

Sorry - misread the first bit.

The operative word is "may" - sometimes you can open a browser without a password - depends how it was set up in the first place. Worth a try if the OP hasn't.

And yes - i agree - it's worth keeping independent, secure records of such important data.

It's very unclear. What do you mean, lost his passwords? Can't open browser? Forgot password to password manager? Can't use passwords stored in some/which browser? Etc.

Reminds me of the time i took my debit card to be scanned at some random Patong shop.

There is a growing industry in Password Manager Apps, some are chargeable, most are free.

As described above the advantage is you only need to remember 1 password to access your Password Database.

Use to work in Finance a number of years ago, and KeePass was the Windows solution that passed our security checks. They now offer the App on Android, however I found when closing the App it still kept the database file connection open, so re-starting the App took you straight in, rather than prompt for the Master Password. So deleted the Android App, but for backup purposes keep a copy of the Windows Database file on my mobiles.

It uses a 256-AES encryption key, so it's Government, Military, Large Scale Enterprise, incl Finnance approved.
