A drunken Chinese man went on a rampage and stabbed a municipal officer’s hand with a pen in front of a popular Pattaya shopping mall in the early hours of the morning. The incident occurred at around 01:30 on October 18 on Second Road. Authorities from Pattaya City’s municipal enforcement team detained the suspect, believed to be a Chinese national aged between 35 and 40, who was reportedly in a violent and incoherent state.

Officials said the man had been behaving erratically when municipal officers approached him to investigate a disturbance outside the mall. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly pulled a pen from an officer’s shirt pocket and stabbed the officer in the hand. Officers quickly subdued the man and took him into custody before transferring him to Pattaya City Police Station for detention.

Witnesses at the scene described the suspect as heavily intoxicated. One witness, identified only as Mr Honda, 20, said he saw the man sitting outside the mall before officers arrived. According to him, the Chinese man appeared drunk and disoriented before suddenly turning aggressive when questioned by officials. The stabbing occurred when the suspect attempted to harm himself but instead injured the officer during the scuffle.

Police searched the man but found no passport or identification documents confirming his identity or place of origin. Officers stated that the man resisted questioning and was too intoxicated to provide any information. He has been placed in a holding cell at Pattaya City Police Station until he regains sobriety, after which further questioning and legal action will follow.

Authorities have instructed municipal officers to record the incident in the daily log as evidence. Once the suspect has calmed down, police plan to interview him formally and pursue charges under the law. No other injuries were reported in the incident and the injured officer received medical attention for his hand wound.

Possible just a simple miscommunication, as Chinese tones are difficult.

Perhaps the officer held out his hand and asked for , and the intoxicated Chinese man misheard and gave him what he thought he asked for, .

(bì = currency)

(bǐ = pen)

He muttered "the pen is mightier than the sword" before lashing out at the officer.

This is a first. Usually, the Chinese crimes are not publicized. Will the Asean Now bigot brigade arrive to offer their idiotic generalizations about Chinese nationals and demand that this accused be sent to prison, raped and then deported?

Get drunk, act stupid, and get banned from the country.

Also, doesn't China keep track of this stuff on its citizens?

Obviously, this forum is not communist China, people are allowed their own takeaways on such stories.

Mine's usually a special chow mein.

Prison, raped and then deported ?

Bic strong, mate.

Maybe just a couple of nights in the pen, and a good swift kick in the prawn crackers , with an obligatory "ballpoint" by a handy official for a photo op ?

The photo reminds me of an incident at my condo block several months ago. An Asian guy ( Korean ) went right off his head around 8.30 am. The office called the police and they sent a very young cop on a motor bike. The young cop tried to quieten the Asian guy down but got a heavy blow to the chin for his troubles. So another call to the police station seen the cavalry roll up. Four cops dressed in riot gear attacked him at the one time and his head was pile driven into the tiled floor. He was cuffed and chained to the back of the pick up. It appears the same pick up and the same cop on the right side of the photo. He would've got a very warm welcome after he arrived at his accommodation in Soi 12.

I remember an incident some years back where a large group was arrested and packed in, and there was a shortage of cuffs. Surprise surprise only a couple left when they got to the station.

About twenty years ago I was travelling by coach just outside of Bangkok, at a red traffic light I glanced down out of the window and saw a police pick up with a farang spreadeagled in the back, his hands handcuffed to either side of the pickup. He was dressed only in a pair of shorts lying in the blazing sun, our eyes met for a few seconds, the look of helplessness and desperation was disturbing, I've never forgotten it, the lack of dignity shown in his arrest was appalling.

One way ticket to the bangkok hilton and no visa needed.Unless he has a rich family for brown evenlopes
