Taxi driver said no flip flops alllowed.

Featured Replies

This morning I was going to the market with a friend of mine who is a fellow expat who was wearing his favorite flip flops. We met at my place and decided to get a taxi to the fresh market for tonights feast. As we were about to enter the cab the driver said 'sorry, no flip flop, foreigner feet bad smell....'

Is this normal here?

You have me wondering if idiocy has any limits.     If so, you surely must be testing them.

How? By my buddy wearing flip flops?

Should he have worn prada shoes instead to go along with his billabong shorts?

Would look a bit daft, don't ya think?

Has nothing to do with Thai, I just don't think there's a taxi driver in the world that's going to turn down a fare because the passenger has on flip flops. It would be a waste of time and gas.

Plus I know that some of your other stories border on unbelievable, so I take everything you write with a big grain of salt.

He actually has a favorite pair of flips flops (to match with his wife beater shirt )

Edit-sorry didn't realize Bob post

The taxi driver has it wrong ,it is drivers that are not allowed to wear

flip flops while driving

I'd put that more like all of his stories are fiction and immature.     Bob must be all of 14 year old.

If I was a Thai taxi driver I would rather have smelly feet in my cab than a Thai lady dropping a mocking bird on the front seat.

It wasn't the flip flops he didn't want, it was the bad smell of their feet.Thailand has some freedom, such as deciding whether to put up with bad smells or not.

....ever smelled some of the food they eat?

yuck!

Eric.

This is gross double standards, what about the taxi drivers hygiene he's been probably sitting in his jocks for weeks reeking of body odor and foreskin residue
