Anutin Plans to Scrap Alcohol Zoning, Extend Hours to 4AM

Featured Replies

Alkies may rejoice, but those of us who don't drink-and-work or drink-and-drive just think "Meh!"

I used to live near the Singha factory in Samsen. Staff were allowed to drink on the job in those days. The number of people staggering around after work was concerning. I expect more car/motorbike accidents will happen. Bar staff need to be taught when to stop serving alcohol to drunks.

Never had so many red thumbs on a post, ever. Impressive. Long live the angry-alkies!

Meaningless for most places, people don't generally stay out until 4am - but there will be 'hospots' which will thrive - they will be few and far between.

There are a number of shops/shacks which open as impromptu bars 200 meters away from us but the noise they chuck out is oppressive in the evening and to think some politician living in his gated mansion miles from anyone thinks letting them carry on until 04:00 in the morning is a good idea needs a re-think, to put it very politely.

Seems the drunks are way more sensitive than I thought.

Cheers.

All irrelevant, in the corridors of power.

The only consideration is CASH.

If I don't reach at least 50 big red ones, I'm gonna be pissed! Hopefully some of the drunks are still coherent enough to smash that button.

When i first came here 25+ years ago it was 24 hours open, far less violence, far less accidents, nobody was in a rush, rules on times just fuel binge drinking and violence. Wind it back!!

100% correct.

Another plus for that era, was the £ to Baht exchange rate,

It was twice what it is now, and the price of a Beer 😪😢

What could go wrong.

The officials estimate of hundreds of billions of baht extra.

Around 2000 when I first came I think it was around 65 baht to the pound, somewhat different now

like it currently is ?

All the old gits moaning and saying why do people need to drink till 4am?  Well, you don't have to. Leave it to people who like to have a good time and you can stay in your homes.  They're not disturbing you.   you'll be in bed with your cup of cocoa by 9pm.

And all the die hard alcoholics and dope smokers will be driving safely home after spending their last Bhat

The night is for ...... you know.. girls at night on the street are probably offering themselves, so they have money to spend and the boys are many times dealers, although it doesn't exist according to the RTP... so they have money too.. Both don't need to work but can prevent other people of a good night sleep as those have a normal job.. And the RTP???? you know... mostly easy money to earn and don't need to do anything for it

Easy money - especially if they own the establishment.

Is your moobane in bkk?

Yes. It's not really a moobarn anymore, but is an area of only residential houses.

Thailand does not have proper zoning.  It is desperately needed here.

It seems that "zones" can suddenly pop up if you have money enough. Just pull down 10 or so houses, leave 4 or 5 which you turn into nightclubs, and combine all the gardensto make a  large parking place and you have an enetrtainment zone.

They are already doing that.
