25 THB in bank account

Featured Replies

I just take all the money in my account. Can leave 25 THB in the account till Monday afternoon, when I will get the deposit from the condo I sold? There is any kind of risk my account will be closed?

If you are going to put the deposit from the sale in to the bank account, why bother taking money out?

I would think it highly unlikely they would close your account between now on Monday.  But if you've already taken the money out it's a bit late to worry about it.

If you know the answer to my question, I will be happy to share my private affairs with you.

You are completely right, but what I do was necessary. Hope nothing will happen.

They won't close it that quickly, probably needs 6 months of inactivity, varies per bank

Had in mine 77 THB for two months and still active.

The only reason I can think of, is if your annual debit card fee hits when between now and then. Otherwise you should be fine.

In general though I don’t like to have less than about 3000 baht in my account.

Agreed, dormant account procedures kick in from balances of ฿2,000 and below in the case of most (if not all) Thai banks.

In general they don't close accounts unless they have been inactive  for a year with a balance of less than 2,000 baht.  At that point they will start charging a monthly fee until the account is emptied.

I try to have at least 1000 baht in each of my banks, but many times I've gone close to zero and the accounts remained open.

The Lucky Men on here IMHO are, in fact, all those who have cheerfully allowed their bank balances to slide to below ฿2,000 (and well below in some cases, including yours!) with no apparent redress from their banks, thanks to the dormant account procedures to which I have previously referred.

So what? At least he isn't reliant on good fortune to avoid being swept up in his bank's dormant account procedures, like you seem to be!!
