Should I buy a new 16kwhr battery?

Now they seem to be selling for around 37kbht I'm severely tempted.

Bought the first one for 37k300bht inc delivery.

Delivered last night and I installed it this morning.

Obviously the delivery guy was on his own, and the battery weighs 130Kg ..........

Together we managed to drag and lever it into the house.

I really don't want to try and lift that heavy an object!

Seems to work well, no problems connecting, easy to setup the JK bluetooth app on my phone.

Display on the battery is nice, touch screen.

Yeah, we've had one logistics company ask if we had a fork-lift 🙂

We got them to deliver on a Sunday when we have family muscle available and wriggled the 250kg box from their pickup truck on to ours where we unpacked (it was a couple of battery kits).

I also had another solar panel delivered the same day (24Kg), but that guy brought his girlfriend along to help him unload it. I love those Rapid 600w N-Type, bifacial, split mono panels  (1,800bht inc delivery), best I've ever had but a bit too large for easy handling.

Tempting indeed.  If we didn't have more than we need already, that would be nice.   Makes having a system way too practical.  Would satisfy most small family needs overnight.

Only 2 of us, but we were getting by nicely with just 10kWh ESS, till the other replacement unit showed up.  Sat in the foyer for a long week, till AC guys came to clean the units, and gave them a tip, to pick it up and place on the wall mounts :cheesy:

Think that one, 10kWh weighed just shy of 100 kg.

Very tempting.

My youngest (ok he's 37 and single) arrives from the UK today, 6'2" ex-matelot, RN tats, built like the proverbial, the bar ladies will be all over him like a rash! 🙂

If he's not worn himself out with a rental he may be available to assist lifting a beast onto the shelves :whistling:

Rather disappointing battery capacity ...    Can't recommend these to anyone.

Cells only charged to 3.33v (83%)

And were finished after less than 6kwhr at 2.80v.

Hmmm. worrying.

Did the charging stop at 3.33V per cell (53.28V overall) because of BMS cutoff or something else?

You should check what the BMS is set to for the various voltage settings and take your pack to 58.4V overall (3.65V per cell) using a LiFePO4 charger or bench power supply.

If the seller has changed the settings password have a look here.

7 days no questions guarantee from Lazada.

Can't see any way a 16kwhr battery can only produce 6kwhr ....... no matter how silly the settings.

Battery (JK) BMS said 83% charged, I used 6Kwhr, BMS said 43v but 37% battery left.

Don't think I want to run the cells below 2.7v, don't believe the BMS is correct saying 37% remaining.

Impossible to charge at the moment as completely depleted, and it's now been raining for 2 days.

Messaged with their tech support, changed a few settings that don't make any difference to charging and discharging. Apparently

1. I'm stupid, know nothing about batteries, (he may be right but that's a bit rude)

2. don't have a big enough inverter to charge it, (nonsense)

3. don't have enough solar panels to charge it, (nonsense)

4. it isn't big enough to charge an EV (nonsense)

Seemed to be trying the old, delay return until too late game, so I hit the return button ................

IMG_20251119_034043.jpg

Ps. 3.65 x 16 =58.4

54v would be the change from bulk charging to trickle charging.

As far as I know at least 80% of storage is from 2.9v-3.4v.

Yeah, fixed my typo 🙂

Great if you can just send the beast back.

You need to take the BMS to cell cut-off to reset the coulomb-counting state of charge to 100% but with no way to push the charge that high the SOC could well be bollocks.

I always assume the SOC is way out.

But cell voltage is important.

Looks to me like fake cells, or faulty cells, or substandard cells.

Battery purchase is always a problem on Lazada.

That's oh so true.

Shame really, looks like a decent unit at a sensible price. 😞

But like so many things here, looks can be deceptive!

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

That's a shame. Is there an app where you can see individual cell voltages? This would interest me the most when buying a battery pack.

A pal and I were talking about this yesterday.

He said, "I wonder how many battery owners actually test their batteries capacity"

And I'm thinking hardly anyone .........

Anyway, this battery is being collected today.

Wanted me to box it up, sorry on my own no way I can lift 130Kg driver will need to help.

They all do, most have bluetooth connection, and many (like this one) have a touchscreen display.

Daly BMS usually have one or the other, JK BMS can have both at the same time.

Returned and refunded .......... seller tested battery and says tested out at 15kwhr .....

My inverter just failed after 3 years so he may well be correct.

Can't find anywhere to get it repaired, so have to buy new.

Just ordered new PowMr Hybrid inverter @ 6,700bht inc

Just ordered 16x EVE LF280K batteries for 23kbht inc

Will use my existing DALY BMS

I can't deal with 130Kg ..... too old.

But I can deal with 16x 5Kg batteries and will build in place so no moving around.

Second time lucky?

PowMr 6.2kw,

Replacing a broken 3 year old PowMr VMPLUS 5k5.

Obviously the mounting screws are 1/2 inch narrower, OK I can put one in at a slant.

All connected, double checked, turned on .... No PV input.

Mess around, notice the screws on the board side are not tightened, tighten all screws just in case, front back on, all works.

A feature they don't advertise, this beast can feed excess power back to the grid and turn my meter backwards. That's really great, considering I only paid 6,700bht inc delivery and WiFi data dongle.

That's a pretty good price.

Just make sure that: -

  • The meter reader doesn't see the meter going backwards.
  • You don't end up with a negative meter reading.

Generally, PEA/MEA turn a blind eye to unofficial net-metering but they are getting more serious.

So far the worst punishment I've heard about is getting a no-reverse meter fitted, but it is illegal so ...

The EVE 280ah batteries delivered were fake, well 12 of them were.

This is what was delivered .....

White valve not EVE

IMG_20251201_084347.jpg

Blue valve maybe EVE ....

IMG_20251128_150627.jpg

I did try them, but only 2kwhr and not the 12kwhr they should store.

And returned 3 days later .....returned ........

IMG_20251202_154159.jpg

For some reason the Flash driver only wanted 3 boxes. But the full refund was given the moment he started printing labels.

I said, I got the money, take no. 4 or not, up to you.

He took it!

As for the PowMr inverter, completely brilliant.

Works perfectly with my 15 year old CalB battery pack (originally 200ah x 48v but now more like 80ah at 48v)

Using it as a grid tie inverter that only uses the battery if sun and grid both fail. Generating 11-12kwhr/day.

No they are made by Gotion and the market is currently flooded with factory rejects from them.

I got 16 of them from a Shopee shop and they came packed as yours, 2 in a flimsy box

protected only by thin styrofoam.

They were oversized (81mm wide) Gotion 340Ah sold as EVE 314Ah.

Returned and refunded.

When the price for 314Ah cells in Thailand is too good to be true then there is a reason for it.

Lesson learned, I'll buy directly from China as I've done before.

Your 'EVE' cells have the oval terminal bases at an angle.

But I agree. I'm done with batteries from Lazada/Shopee.

All fakes, from AAA up to EVE 314ah ......

I now buy my AAA and AA batteries from 7-11.

It would be nice if some of the battery manufacturers sold direct on the Thai shopping platforms.

My 15yo second hand CalB work so much better than the junk!

And now my new inverter works with the grid I no longer need large battery storage.

Makro is good for AA & AAA 16 packs
