An incident unfolded in Si Racha, Chonburi, on the afternoon of 11 November 2025, when five members of the same family were found dead inside their home. Authorities believe the killings were carried out by a 62-year-old street vendor suffering from financial stress, who later took his own life.

At around 16:00, the Sawang Prateep Sri Racha Rescue Centre received a report of multiple fatalities at a house in Moo 5, Nong Kham subdistrict. Police officers, forensic experts and doctors from Laem Chabang Hospital were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found the house locked and quiet, with a strong odour coming from inside. A tricycle used by the homeowner, known locally as “Uncle Squid Seller,” was parked outside, along with several unopened parcels.

Relatives, unable to reach the family for several days, had asked police to check on them. Neighbours said the house had been closed for two to three days. When officers entered the property, they discovered five bodies in separate rooms. The first was found under a mosquito net, later identified as the 82-year-old mother-in-law of the homeowner. The others were found in bedrooms and a bathroom.

Police confirmed the deceased as Mr. Somjin, aged 62, who was found hanging in the bathroom; Mrs. Thassawan, his 60-year-old wife, found dead in a front bedroom; Ms. Sukunya, their 21-year-old daughter and a one-year-old granddaughter, both found in a bedroom near the bathroom. Each had severe head injuries caused by a heavy stone mortar, except Somjin, who had hanged himself.

A friend of the deceased told police that he had last seen Somjin on Sunday night. When he called out to him, Somjin replied that he was unwell and could not come out. The friend said Somjin was usually kind and hardworking, selling squid and fermented rice noodles at a local market.

Investigators believe Somjin was overwhelmed by financial difficulties and may have suffered a mental breakdown before attacking his family members and taking his own life. Police and forensic officers have collected evidence and recorded the scene for the investigation.

The five bodies were sent to the Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Science for autopsy to determine the precise causes of death. The investigation by Nong Kham Police Station continues to confirm the motive and timeline of the killings.

Is there a special place in hell for people who murder their own children?

The dirty mother <deleted>. Took out his 21 year old daughter and her child, both of whom had their whole lives in front of them. Asians in Canada do this kind of crap regularly enough that it's no longer shocking to read about.

How do you know what the billionaires do with their money.   I'm sure you give all your extra money away to the needy :coffee1:

Earned money, and why bother, I'll take yours.   There's charity to needy, and freeloading lay abouts.

I'm sure you've never spent a single day of your life working as hard as the poor vendor from the OP.

It is possible to work hard all your life and still be poor you know. In fact it's not just possible, it's normal

You want to leave this planet then do it but to take the lives of others is despicable. Mental sickness or not you will rot in hell for taking the lives of others with you.

You are surely mistaken, though admit to not reading the OP, as only saw the comment I replied to.  But I did work my share of underpaid, and long hours jobs, physically and degrading for money.

But, it's an anonymous forum, so why bother, although I have stated in the past, I've worked 30+ jobs, in 30+ years, out of necessity, so easy to read between the lines.   Both at early age, 12 ish, and even full time hours, while in high school, and again, out of necessity.  Eaten my share of gov't chees:cheesy:

Of course escaping poverty is almost impossible for millions world-wide, but to take the lives of your own family is disgusting and unforgivable.

Hogwash.

One can never have enough money.

It's your definition that the entire planet is Hell.

It's not mine.

Let's save it for another thread.

The "lose the face" mentality can be merciless. R.I.P.

Tragic. I suspect Mr squid was supporting the other 4 - 3 over 60, one young child. With Thailand's pathetic pensions, I guess at his age he only saw suffering ahead, working himself to death but never making enough.

Thais are, by nature, calm and warm-hearted people. Yet sometimes it feels as if behind that serene exterior lurk unimaginable monsters, who, once unleashed, commit acts beyond comprehension. One thinks of the soldier who carried out a senseless massacre in Korat, or the man who, in the final moments of his life, slaughtered children in a kindergarten. Even this street vendor can take on an almost monstrous aura. My personal attitude toward Thais has gradually changed over time, shifting toward much more caution. Still waters run deep.

And you think that your working conditions were worse than that of a grilled squid seller in Pattaya?

I notice you mentioned high school. Do you not maybe think that your school provided you at least some advantage in life? Who paid for that...? Other people's money.

Do you want to talk about career progression options or further education opportunities?  Whatever opportunities you had, you can be sure that they weren't available to the 99% of the people who grow up here in Thailand.

Saying "I earned my [excessive] money" [all by myself]" is ridiculous. I'm sure you made some very smart decisions. I'm sure you have worked hard in your life. I'm not debating that. But you did it off the back of a society funded mostly by poor people paying taxes (because we know for sure that the wealthy don't often pay then).

And I'm sure that in his clearly-impares mental state, the concern of how his actions appeared to others was right on top of his priorities.

Are you seriously suggesting that killing his family was excusable because of his mental state ?

He probably wanted them with him in the afterlife where he assumed that there, ''existence,'' will be much easier than this

current miserable life.

I wonder why people in this situation never seem to kill their loan sharks before killing themselves? That's what I would have done in this situation, rather than killing my innocent family members.
