A security camera in Phuket has captured footage of a foreign man stealing sunglasses from an accessory shop on November 16. The thief tried on multiple pairs before concealing a pair with pink lenses in his pocket. This footage has been shared widely on social media by the shop employee, in hopes of identifying the man.

The man initially tried on several pairs, returning them to their spots except the last one, which he placed above the display. Shortly after, he returned to take it, hiding the sunglasses in his trousers pocket before leaving the scene. Despite the low value of the 199-baht item, many Thai netizens criticized the theft and urged authorities to act.

Similar incidents have been reported, involving foreigners in Phuket. Last week, another foreigner stole a motorcycle by pretending to play with a dog before escaping on the vehicle. Additionally, a different individual was filmed stealing liquor from a restaurant by concealing it in a jacket.

The island also witnessed an incident in March involving German models stealing from a store on Koh Pha Ngan. They later apologized but faced legal actions from the shop owner. Such incidents highlight concerns about thefts involving foreigners, prompting calls for stricter enforcement.

Moving forward, local authorities are pressured to increase surveillance and crack down on such offenses. Community leaders urge both local and international residents to maintain integrity to ensure public safety and trust. Police investigations are expected to continue to deter future incidents and hold those responsible accountable, reported The Thaiger.
