Carbs are like sex.

Carbs beget more carbs.

Doesn't depend, not for me anyway.

The addictive nature of carbs is one thing.

But even if you can control your addictions, living off glucose means you constantly have to keep your glucose levels topped up.

I'm 100% sure you are eating the wrong "carbs", you never learn

  • I'd rather be dead than give up carbs and sugar. What do us old folk have left beyond eating and drinking?

It's not that simple because carbs are like heroin and most people are addicted to carbs.

I used to have one of those firm bellies mentioned in the video clip in the link. It never hung down over the waist of my trousers, but rather looked like half a football under my shirt and was solid

Folks these days tend to over think and complicate their diet. Keep it simple, a person can get by easily on just a little protein and vegetables and lose a bunch of weight and turn things around rather quickly.

You've worked it out, well done, I'm amazed people find it so complicated, avoid/stop junk food, eat real food including carbs, rice, potatoes, fruit, vegetables

Fructose converts to glucose.   Same as any other carb. No healthier than a candy bar.
Honey, natural as can be, still converts to glucose. No healthier than a slice of chocolate cake.
Just because it's natural,’ doesn’t mean it’s healthy. Arsenic is natural. So is cyanide.
For best health, avoid almost ALL sugars and starches.

So are there no nutrition benefits in honey.?

Agree.  No way am I giving up pasta, rice and croissants!

Depends how often you eat the croissants and whether you are trying to improve your health / lose weight

Yes there are a few trace minerals but in essence it is just sugar.

Not really, what are you classifying as carbs?

everything except vegetables,

most people are just forcing themselves to eat vegetables

maybe some people tolerate carbs better than others.

Some folks have a slower metabolism and should probably pay more attention to what they eat and stay active. Folks such as myself have a high metabolism and can eat whatever and not gain weight. Though personally am highly sensitive to sugar and junk processed foods because don’t ever eat it, though occasionally eat something with sugar or msg and regret it every time feeling burned out and headaches, a good indicator that stuff is poison. Eating out has always been a challenge, though in recent years cm have more and more restaurants that have edible food. It took a while, though now the wife is 100% on board.

Not enough to make up for the damage the sugar does.
As said previously, trace elements at best.

... and that beats out having to stick yourself with a needle several times a day, just checking your blood sugar, to say nothing of the daily insulin injections.
...

There are different stages of diabetes; moderate diabetes does not require insulin. A good diet and one pill a day are sufficient.

so you're eating junk food, how often?

No, i think some people can't differentiate between real food and junk

Unless you do have an illness or use some medication the «some folks or people have a slower metabolism» is a myth!

Get your ass of the sofa, move and keep a diet that is less than you need for  maintaining your status Q.

There is a reason why people do not manage to keep a healthy balanced life, it is because they believe in stupid things, and find excuses.

If you want a healthy life and some kind of healthy mind you need to start making changes to your life. Keep a good diet, move your body, and also exercise your brain. Cognitive exercises have been proven to maintain a healthy mind.

Seems you pulled that nonsense out of the air, metabolic rates do vary among people, so some individuals have a relatively slower metabolism compared to others due to factors like genetics, age, muscle mass, hormone levels, and body composition. Yet weight gain is primarily caused by calorie intake.

When you quote me, make sure you quote all of it.

If you read closely and understand what I wrote you will see Im spot on !

  • Build muscle: Resistance training can increase your muscle mass, which helps burn more calories at rest.
  • Stay active: Regular physical activity is key to maintaining a faster metabolism.
  • Eat a balanced diet: Focus on fruits, vegetables, and lean protein. Avoid excessive amounts of sugar and unhealthy fats, according to WebMD.
  • Get enough sleep: Lack of sleep can negatively impact your metabolic rate

No, just quoted the mythical myth statement is all that is necessary…

More to it than a medical illness or medications…

Which all of it for most is a result of lifestyle health problems. If everyone maintain a healthy active lifestyle from young, there wouldn't be much differences in metabolism among larger groups.

A balanced diet and general  healty active lifestyle would had prevented most people's metabolism issues or problems unless there is a medical illness or drug use causes lower metabolism.

When I grew up, there where almost no fat kids, now it is more than 20% among kids between 8-19 year.

Among 60 kids at my age at school, 1 was fat, and two was overweight.

I think I came across a study that claimed keto diet raises metabolism.

no, not much junk food at all.

I'm blaming fruit, which I eat a lot of.

It's carbs. And some of them have a very high glycemic index .

And if you're overweight, any carbs are problematic.

Because the body utilizes the carbs for fuel over stored fats.

So its impossible to burn stored fats when carbs are coming in.

Also, I was eating way too frequently, eating before a workout and then snacking after a workout.

I'm back on time restricted eating.

People who are overweight need to do keto at least 1-2 months.

Then maybe re-introduce carbs.

But I may never go back to reintroducing carbs.

Yo yo weight can also lead to health problems.

Losing, then gaining, then losing.

Keto works and I'm not convinced we need carbs.

Or maybe very minimal carbs at most.

Elite athletes need carbs, but maybe only much smaller amounts than they consume.

The average person probably doesn't need carbs.

Rich wealthy people with an passion and a solid profession useally appear like happy.

But who really knows who is happy or not? Are you happy? Can you be more happy if you improve you life?

The world is like The Twilight Zone.

It's not possible to be happy more than 20% of the time maybe at most.

Unless you're a highly gifted artist and performing all over the world. Maybe those guys are content more than the average person.
