Cold spell in Thailand, what's your REAL temp now?

Featured Replies

"what's your REAL temp now?"

If you are asking for my...REAL temperature, then....

It's definitely 99.

I would simply die without 99.

We can't survive without homeostatic control.

Still, I know I will never suffer from frostbite in Thailand.

Most Thai people can live a lifetime and never once suffer frostbite.

Thai people are often unable to comprehend how lucky they are, and how easy life is, ...

Here in Thailand.

  • Just out of Kanchanaburi - a chilly 22’ as we speak - should hit about 30 today. Perfect temperatures!! Not too hot - so can get a bit of work done around the farm.

16C this morning at 7.00am, Khao Kho elevation 780 metres ASL. Check it every morning as well as the barometer. 15C has been the coldest so far but last season got down to 10C.

  • I find the cold hits different here. If I was home in UK I would think it's a pleasant summers day. Here I am wearing a hoodie, long trousers and thick socks.

10C at 6am this morning but thankfully not the 15 knot wind we had yesterday.

It was really windy even where I am quite far away. Not just strong wings but at usual times and locations which never get wind. That must be where all the cold air came from.

In sunny MaeJo it was 12c on my patio at dawn.

7:40am now and it's risen to 12.3c.

It seems like basically everywhere in all of the northern/Isaan regions are all about this same temperature today. Cold air seems to have been blown in.

I didn't know, but it represents my leave for Florida first time at 19. Was supposed to be there skydiving 2 weeks, ended up staying 4 months 🌞

Life never became the same again

At least better than 33 and burning fields. Doing activities is not that bad as long you at least have proper clothing and gloves.

I thought yesterday at 10C was cold but this morning was down to 7C. That is the lowest it has been in the 8 years living here.

And it is still November, what will it be like in January?

11.1C this morning.

I monitor the water usage of our 17 room residential block (pumped from underground so I record when the pump to the top tank is on). The last few days water consumption in the early morning and evenings has dropped considerably - most residents are not showering, despite having electric shower heaters.....

Me neither, too cold, might be OK while actually in the hot shower, but when the water is off and you're still drying out, just too cold.

You've gone soft!

Actually most of us have -I remember when I came here 21 years ago, I never used the shower heater year round. Not any more!

I was there last week on my bike and one of those frickin' dogs bit my foot when I was coming down from the temple. I had cycling shoes on which are hard plastic so it didn't go in but still never had a problem with any of them in all the years I've been cycling there. Sad thing is just the week before that we donated 20kg of dog food to the temple.

That would be highly informative for people who have never taken a shower in cold weather .

  Todays lesson :

*Its cold when you get out the shower when its cold *

Maybe you donated the wrong food ?

Did you donate plant based chicken instead of real chicken ?

Too cold to shower? - improvise - I found my wife washing her hair in the sun with the garden hose earlier......

Scenes from this evening bike ride to the top of the mountain. 1250 meters elevation at 15c at 5:30pm. When the sun goes down the temps drop fast up there. But I bet it's already nearing 10 and will be single digits in the morning.
