This rarely ends up good, you put a Thai girl being one of the only ones in basically a city with tons of even 'nicer farangs' that all seem to earn decently. Then the first little bottleneck on the road will make het cheat, I guess that is why it happens in the west in general all the time. People divorce for peanuts. In TH people not have that luxury hence even if there is cheating happening they do stick together as family units.

Just a thought, I notice all the negatives against Thai / foreigner relationships are throw at the Thai, usually females mentioned.   Whether working gal, village gal, neither gal, here or if returned to home country, they up & leave, with take whatever they can from the foreigner.  Probably well deserved for putting up with some of the mutts.

 

Maybe, just maybe, and especially since one didn't have success with partners before and after arriving TH, the males are the problem.   Especially the oh so faithful ones, that love to tell us how they cheat on their partners.   Have obvious drinking problems, and let their bodies go to sh!t, if not that way to begin with.

I've observed lots of relationships, self included, and it's not always the woman / partner that is the problem.

 

Finding someone that is like minded, with same dreams, thought, future living expectations is hard enough.  Expecting that to last, as we age and change from first meeting or 5 -10 years in, is a roll of the dice.  And the way some sabotage themselves, it's no surprise they can't seem to remain in LTR.

Maybe a cultural thing in TH, as if lead by example, top down, yes, it does seem to be accepted.  Also back in home country, as know a few relationships that survived.

 

But that's not the way my mother raised me, and certainly wouldn't be acceptable to my wife.  That's what friends w/ bennies are for.   Those times in between relationships, or after a night out and no takers, you can always rely on that like minded friend.  Or simply start the evening with your friend.  Plenty of those in my world, and no need to cheat on a partner ... ever.

 

Trust is one's most valuable asset, lose that, yours or partners, and you are forever lost ... IMHO

It's you Britman as well as me and  probably many here in Thailand .  I never got screwed over by a western woman but never was interested much in putting myself in a position to get screwed.    I  slept with the ones that I found attractive when the opportunities arose and only once  lived with a woman.     Sounds shallow but I found most women in America quite boring.

 

I'm here because I don't have to play the western LTR game. Funny, playing the game here now for the last 6 years and it is going great but only because I was in the right place and was on a lucky streak. By the time the streak probably ended I realised I liked hanging with her and decided I would never lie to her and see where the relationship takes us both.  I  had to drop most of the things I did on a regular basis to keep the no lie promise I made to myself.

Well I married a Thai girl in US after my discharge from USAF and 19 months in Thailand, prior to her I was a cuddly little dude and dated a lot of ladies in US as well as Thailand. I wasn't the hayseed GI who never had a girlfriend in USA then got lucky in Thailand and married the first lady he found. Anyhow dumb luck or whatever but we'll be officially married 50 yrs in 5 months.  I spent 43 yrs of that traveling repairing drilling rigs in some really uncool places for extended periods of time. She took care of the home, kids and all the finances no mobile banking back then.  I know very few women that could handle that no matter where they from.  Anyhow she's 71 an I'm 73 now so I guess we both chose wisely. Retired here 6 yrs ago and buddy that chick still gets my motor running...
