If he said that then he should be arrested, charged and tried.

Hegseth defends strikes after WaPo ‘kill everybody’ story: ‘Fake news’

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Friday defended the U.S. military’s recent strikes on alleged drug-trafficking boats in response to a recent report from The Washington Post.

“As usual, the fake news is delivering more fabricated, inflammatory, and derogatory reporting to discredit our incredible warriors fighting to protect the homeland,” Hegseth said Friday evening in a post on the social platform X.

“As we’ve said from the beginning, and in every statement, these highly effective strikes are specifically intended to be ‘lethal, kinetic strikes.’ The declared intent is to stop lethal drugs, destroy narco-boats, and kill the narco-terrorists who are poisoning the American people. Every trafficker we kill is affiliated with a Designated Terrorist Organization,” he added.

The family of Alejandro Carranza, a Colombian fisherman killed in a U.S. military strike on a suspected drug boat, is preparing a lawsuit in U.S. court, with an American lawyer representing them.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has urged his attorney general to assist the Carranza family with filing claims against the U.S.. Petro has described the U.S. strikes as "murder" and halted intelligence sharing with the U.S. as a result.

The U.S. claims the strikes are part of an armed conflict with drug cartels and that those aboard the boats are combatants. However, human rights advocates and U.N. experts have characterized the bombings in international waters as extrajudicial killings, arguing that international law does not permit killing civilians unless they pose an imminent threat.

You can't justify murdering people in international waters by labelling them "terrorist" drug traffickers, any more than you can justify the killing of cigarettes and alcohol smugglers, illegal immigrants, illegal fishermen, or illegal dumpers on the high seas by labelling them "terrorists." What Hegseth is doing is clearly a criminal act.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly gave a verbal order to leave no survivors behind as Donald Trump’s administration launched the first of more than a dozen attacks on alleged drug-running boats that have killed more than 80 people over the last three months.

On September 2, U.S. military personnel fired a missile striking a vessel in the Caribbean that carried 11 people accused of trafficking drugs into the United States.

When two survivors emerged from the wreckage, a Special Operations commander overseeing the attack ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions to “kill everybody,” according to The Washington Post, citing officials with direct knowledge of the operation.

AI quickie Gemini:

A lawsuit has been initiated by the family of Alejandro Carranza, a Colombian fisherman killed in a U.S. military strike on his boat in the Caribbean Sea in September 2025. The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, is supporting these efforts and has called for legal action in international and U.S. courts, accusing the U.S. of "murder" and a violation of national sovereignty.

AI quickie Gemini take 2:

The legal proceedings are currently in early stages, focusing on bringing charges and determining the appropriate jurisdiction for the case.

But in the meantime, if you are dying to read a complaint, you can read this one:

Weird that no attempt has ever been had to capture a fisherman and find out where the fish originated from.

Translation: There are tons of issues to resolve before we even see whether there is a case, including floating bales of drugs, by the way, have you come up with the $10,000 deposit on costs?

I dont know what that swallwell thing is? More Chinese honey traps?

Noted.

But my guess would be the most straightforward case would wrongful death civil suit.

Yes, and so is Trump. They just don't care if you have brown skin, your life isn't worth much to them. They say that these are enemy combatants, however the Geneva convention specifically mentions that enemy combatants need to be captured, not slaughtered like insects. So it's a grossly illegal killing and it's just more murder on the part of Trump Inc.

So one person does something morally reprehensible and that's total justification for another person doing so?

Why not apply that to hacking international banks and any other type of moral turpitude?

If they are  criminals, why were two survivors of a later attack repatriated without charges? Where is the evidence?

He doesn't deny the accusations, but rather talks up how bigly they were murdered.

Yeah, watching the body parts of terrorist dope dealers flying through the air makes my morning coffee fun. Wish they would do some more.

I hear he has stock in Yamaha...about $250,000 worth of horsepower blowing up each time.

If those reports are true, I don't think a Trump pardon will cover anyone from Hegseth down to the person who killed the survivors of the first shot that were clinging to debris.

Hegseth is over egging it a bit, "Warriors, fighting to defend the homeland."

A guy sitting in a room,  either on a heavily armed and defended warship, or in a back room in the Pentagon, remotely flying a drone to kill, possibly illegally, the crew of a boat that has never been proven to be committing the crime they are dying for, is hardly fitting of such a description.

Under any law, international or military, that is either murder or a war crime.

No, Pete Hegseth is not guilty of extrajudicial killing based on the available evidence from the report you linked (The Independent, November 28, 2025).

DoD spokesperson Sean Parnell called the narrative "entirely false" and the operations a "resounding success" compliant with U.S./international law.

A DOJ memo (leaked to WaPo) asserts no criminal liability for participants, framing cartels as "non state armed groups" under law-of-war principles.

What Hegseth is stating is that "I Am The God Of War - I May Not Be Questioned."  His recent statements have essentially stated that, "As the God Of War aka The US Secretary Of War, if I say that a boat in international waters is carrying drugs, then that boat is carrying drugs.  No proof is required. my word is Law. If I label those in the boat to be 'Narco-Terrorists Who Need To Die,' then they are 'Narco-Terrorists Who Need To Die.No proof is required, my word is Law.

I, Pete Hegseth, am the God Of War!  I am Judge. I am Jury. I am Executioner. No one may question my judgement.

'Due Process Under Law' shalt no longer be the law of the land as The God Of The World - his Magnificence Donald J. Trump <bow>- hath decreed it so.  Take a knee before your Gods and tremble & weep at our powers over life and death.

He who questions our judgement shalt be labelled as "Purveyors Of Fake News." Soon, if the Purveyors of Fake News refuse to muzzle themselves before their divine Lords, The God Of War and The God Of The World, his Magnificence Donald J. Trump <bow> shalt degree that all Purveyors Of Fake News are "Info-Terrorists."  Woe be the Info-Terrorists for their days shalt be numbers and Due Process Under Law shalt no longer look upon them kindly and shalt pass them by. And in the coming days of Darkness And Woe, it will be shouted from the heavens and verily amplified by the Trumpet Of Truth Social, that "Info-Terrorists need to die.  No proof of their guilt shalt be required - my word is Law."

Kneel before your Earthly Gods and Tremble, for your puny lives are in our hands.  Speak unkindly of your God Of War and your God Of The World and die the death of the apostate, for verily I say unto you, little-people and knaves and those who harbor unholy thoughts, that the Archangel Of Death - The AGM-114 shalt end your puny existence in Hellfire.
