Hi, I'm not up-to-date on the latest banking fiascos and heard some people are worried about going into their banks when they no longer have a non-immigrant visa in their passport.  Is there any truth to that?  I originally opened my bank accounts while on a Non-Imm-B but am currently in the country on a Tourist Visa.

If you have an ATM card on the account, then might be best not to ask the bank what their policy is.   On my latest withdraw (BBL), last week, she did page through my passport, to my newest extension, so it may be true.

I have heard from a couple of people, who's accounts were locked due to 12 months of inactivity, being unable to have them activated again, without a 12-month visa.
In saying that, these examples are from one particular bank, others may be more flexible.

With a tourist visa they'd likely close your account so guess what? don't tell them
