Cold, Rainy Weather Eases in Thailand

The Meteorological Department announced that the cold weather and heavy rains affecting various regions in Thailand will ease off throughout this week. The North, Northeast, Central Plains, East, and upper South will experience cooler mornings until Saturday due to a weakening high-pressure system. From Wednesday to Saturday, intermittent rain is expected in some areas of the lower Northeast, Central Plains, East, and upper South, driven by easterly and southeasterly winds bringing humidity from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.

The rain will be limited in the lower South as the northeastern monsoon weakens. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Koto in the South China Sea is expected to approach southern Vietnam on Monday and Tuesday. According to the Meteorological Department, the storm will lose strength quickly and is not forecasted to enter Thailand, prevented by the cold air over Vietnam and the South China Sea.

Weather experts have noted that this weather change will provide some relief to areas experiencing severe weather conditions. However, continued monitoring is advised, especially in regions expected to receive rain throughout the week. The easing of the northeastern monsoon may also result in decreased rainfall, which could influence agricultural activities and water resource management in the affected areas.

Looking ahead, authorities urge residents to stay updated with the latest weather reports and prepare for varying weather conditions. The national weather agency will continue to provide regular updates to ensure public safety and preparedness. While the immediate weather concerns are expected to diminish, residents should remain cautious regarding the effects of any residual rainfall and changing temperatures, reported Bangkok Post.

Key Takeaways

  • Weather conditions in Thailand are expected to improve this week.
  • Tropical Storm Koto will not impact Thailand significantly.
  • Continued updates from the Meteorological Department are advisable.

Then you need to be further north. Where I was staying, it wasn't colder than 17ºC.

Been in the 30s here in south Surin for the last 4 or 5 days.

Yeah I don't mind it for a week or two but getting up and having to dive for a thick hooded top for survival is a bit harsh at 6am .

Then being glad when go back into the warm room with the air con on at cool 23c  😎

I was hoping this would last all year. Of course, we all know there's no climate change. Donald wants to build a golf course in Hat Yai.

Yes, an "improvement" from cool and comfortable to hot and unpleasant 🙄

Just in time for Smog Season, we're off to a good start here in Bangkok, red all over the city.
