I wouldn't bother....waste of money at your age

I'll be 71 in less than a fortnight (that's 2 weeks), so good to know CAC, although I think I'm pretty sure it's <100 already.  That 'no stenosis' in my report 3+ yrs ago kind of insures that, as don't anyone can go too far downhill in only 3 yrs, especially when eating fairly healthy.

More interested in the ultrasound and other bloodwork, lipid panel & glucose, as been letting some carbs back into my diet since last blood work in May.   See what that effect has been ... and like I said, hard to pass up a good sale while O&A.

3900 is inexpensive, considering full ultrasound included & CAC on sale also.

But thanks for your concerns, as warms my heart.

The good thing is you will be gone in 10 years so need to put up with your silly posts  I will still be here  Bye

  • I've had one. I forget the price. They only recommend to do them if you have other indicators, like high LDL Direct (more than 130) and if you have some hypertension - even without symptoms - and are

You shouldn't take any bets on the 10 yr crap out thought, as brother just turned 78 on the 7th :coffee1:

Mother made it to 74, and stone Alky & chain smoker.  Her nephew, my cousin, 85 😎

I just turned 80 and I'm your friend, that should help.:)

Me 71, brothers 78 another soon to be 73.  Another 67.  Few family members made to 80s, even though alkys most of their lives.

Other kin dying early, self inflicted lung & liver cancers ... oh well.  Live or die, with your choices.

It reassuring lot of AN members are knocking on, or already 80.   Along with some of favorite R&R'ers & celebrities, known for abusing the hell out of their bodies, still kickin'.

Not perfect, but you could just get a carotid (neck) artery ultrasound, and if 'NO' plaque found there, then think you'd have low risk of any major build up elsewhere.  Or just get the CAC.

Carotid artery, large & close to skin, so easily read with ultrasound.  From AI ...

On other tests you may want, and ones I get, that give me a pretty clear idea, where I'm at or heading, with eating lifestyle.

Lipid panel

(Lipoprotein) Lp (a) ... just once in life time

Lp (b)

HbA1c

HSCRP

HOMA-IR

Never hurts to know your electrolyte levels, copy of what those should show, and let's you know to avoid supplementing, unless doing heavy work out, it that's even needed  🙄

DISCLAIMER:  not a doc or med professional, but my numbers tell me I'm doing OK so far, after 71 yrs of gracing the planet.  Non smoker, cut all alcohol out, slowly over last 10 ish years.  Whole foods, home cooking, Keto-ish diet with intermittent fasting overnight, 2000 hrs - 1100 hrs.

I get most of my blood work done at 'N Health' now, Chumphon branch, being closest to us.

Not sure, but only had 3 test done last time, May 2025, <1000 ?

... Lipid panel

(Lipoprotein) Lp (b)

HbA1c

Prior to that, Nov 2024, just blood work, done elsewhere, clinic @ Hua Hin, I think price about 3500 ?  Expensive compared to PhayaThai promo, especially since didn't really care for half of the test, but was a package.  No wait, walk in, take blood, email results.   I was there, and just happen to be around the corner from place I was getting an eye exam, so thought, why not.

Lab work actually done @ HH Hosp.

Use to get almost yearly check ups at Camillian hosp at BKK.  EKG, Xray, ultrasounds & bloodwork, but last one 2020,  <7000 baht

https://camillianhospital.org/en/health-check-up-program/

I don't bother with all the test now, and only concerned about these, which last 2, I haven't had done yet.   Which, if I make to Phayathai, will add them on:

Lipid panel

(Lipoprotein) Lp (a) ... just once in life time

Lp (b)

HbA1c

HSCRP

HOMA-IR
