A married couple were found dead in their bedroom in Hat Yai, Songkhla, after a jealous confrontation ended in a murder-suicide that left relatives shocked and police investigating the sequence of events. Police from Khuan Lang Station were alerted on 11 December to the discovery of two bodies, both aged 44, in a house in a local housing estate. Officers found the husband lying on top of his wife beside the bed, with both victims showing gunshot wounds to the right temple.

Police confirmed that the woman had been shot three times in the right temple, while the man had a single gunshot wound. Four 9mm cartridge cases were recovered at the scene. Relatives, unable to contact the couple for more than 24 hours, went to the house and discovered the bodies after noticing the woman’s car parked unusually with its wheels on the footpath.

Investigators believe the incident was driven by jealousy, as the husband worked in another province and returned home only every two weeks, while the wife managed her business locally and reportedly received attention from several men. Family members reported frequent arguments between the pair, including what appeared to be a serious dispute on 9 December. Police suspect the husband locked his wife in a choke hold before shooting her three times and then fatally shooting himself.

Relatives said the woman had phoned them before the incident to report a heated quarrel. When they lost contact with both spouses, they sought help from the housing estate’s security guard, who led them to the upstairs bedroom where the door was found ajar. Upon entering, they encountered the bodies in a final embrace.

The immediate police response has focused on confirming the timeline and motive, though early findings point to long-standing tensions in the relationship. Authorities are also reviewing phone records and interviewing family members to understand the escalation that led to the violent outcome. The case has prompted discussion on domestic violence and the challenges faced by couples separated for long periods due to work obligations.

Daily News reported that both bodies have been sent for a detailed autopsy at Songklanagarind Hospital to confirm the cause of death and complete forensic examinations. Police will hand the bodies over to relatives once the process is finished so that religious rites can proceed.
