A husband and wife in Chonburi have voiced fears of unfair treatment after a female motorcyclist, allegedly riding drunk and against traffic, collided with their motorcycle and was later allowed to return home by police. The incident left the couple and their six-year-old son injured and their motorcycle damaged, raising questions about police handling of the case.

The crash was reported on 19 December to the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre in Pattaya. The collision occurred in Soi Map Song Nong Yai 7, Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi, prompting coordination with officers from Nong Prue Police Station and volunteer rescue workers.

At the scene, a Yamaha Grand Filano motorcycle, registration from Chonburi, was found overturned and damaged. The rider, Mr Thawatchai Un-ok, aged 26, was travelling with his wife and their six-year-old son as a passenger, all of whom sustained minor injuries including abrasions and chest pain.

The other rider was a woman who smelled strongly of alcohol and appeared heavily intoxicated, suffering minor injuries. She was riding a Suzuki Jelato motorcycle, which had skidded into the opposite lane after the crash.

Mr Thawatchai told police that he and his family were returning home after a meal when the other motorcycle rode against traffic in a weaving manner and struck them head-on, throwing all parties in different directions. Police reportedly asked both sides to undergo alcohol breath testing, with Mr Thawatchai stating that he had not consumed alcohol.

According to Mr Thawatchai, the woman underwent multiple breath tests, after which police recorded the incident in the daily log as evidence. He said officers then allowed the woman to return home due to her intoxicated condition, stating that she was unable to give a coherent statement and that the parties would be called in later for mediation.

The couple expressed concern that they may not receive justice, questioning why an allegedly drunk rider involved in a crash causing injuries and damage was released after alcohol testing. They said police explained that detaining her would prevent officers from sleeping, a reason that has fuelled public doubt about police procedures.

When local reporters attempted to seek clarification on the investigation process and the cause of the crash, police reportedly requested personal details from the journalist but declined to disclose the alcohol test results. The reporter was later asked to leave the station on the grounds of obstructing police work.

Daily News reported that the couple have called on Pol Col Nattapol Phongsuksakul, Superintendent of Nong Prue Police Station, to review the case and address public concerns to ensure fairness and transparency. Police have not publicly released further details and the case remains under scrutiny by local residents.

Getting locked up in a cold cell until able to make a statement is obviously not the norm there.

They sleep all day hence the lack of traffic control and the daily death toll.

Locking up the law breaker  causes a lot of paperwork, they 're too lazy  to do that,  better let them go free

Would obstructing police work include getting in the way of a large brown envelope being handed over.....?    :coffee1: cops getting their sleep? so they don't have a custody officer...

So the police station would be closed while all on-duty officers took a nap?

"asked both sides to undergo alcohol breath testing, with Mr Thawatchai stating that he had not consumed alcohol."

I'll hazard a guess that after stating that he had not consumed alcohol, He didn't have to undergo the requested alcohol breath testing,

FYI it always worked for me.

Post a photo the drunk lady's license plate and a photo of her, here onto the internet.

Whenever involved in any motor vehicle accident always take photos of opposing parties and gather as much evidence as possible, for your own protection. Evidence can go missing or be "forgotten" especially if the other party has "special" connections or friends or lots of fat brown envelopes.

That has got to be the pits of cheap excuse even for the BiB. But at least it's honest.
