Baked potato

Featured Replies

Trying to find Big potatoes to bake.

When I lived on Samui Makro in Bhoput always had baking potatoes.

Both Makro on Samui is so much better than in Pattaya.

BigC, Samui always half price on expiring cheese, not in Pattaya.

Overall, Makro on Samui focus on restaurants, not here.

There's two on Samui, same as Pattaya.

They really have big potatoes up in North , but used to make French fries.

You can get from Chinese villages up on the border to Burma.

Tried to get fresh potatoes, they looked at me as I was stupid.

Small will grow this big.

Offered sa!e price per kg, and said you will get another harvest soon

I get mine from the aptly named "Big C"  when they have them, Which is not always as potatoes are seasonal I think

Those potato eyes can be intimidating :giggle:

What puzzles me is that I see so many people growing Thai potatoes, which are a product that yields about three baht per kilo at the wholesale level, whereas Mon fagang, or standard potatoes yield about seven times that on the wholesale market. Why don't some of these Thai Farmers grow them? Why can't they just figure that out?

Potatoes are an absolutely glorious food, and recently I've been slicing potatoes and using them in my air fryer with olive oil and they are just gorgeous.

Availability might have something to do with the season.  I would think the spuds don't keep too well in the humidity and heat.

Cheaper to fly to Sweden than Samui, around 3300 baht to Stockholm with Norse Atlantic on Thursday, same to Samui 5590.

Found nice spuds year around up in the mountains of Chiang Mai, same with strawberry. Think it the transport is ruining it. Hot and humid trucks.
