A street altercation between a foreign tourist and a Thai woman disrupted the Patong area of Phuket on December 23. Thai witness Jeerawut Wangnurak posted the video on Facebook, describing how the altercation started when the unidentified foreign man, reportedly drunk, slapped the Thai woman, leading her to retaliate. This resulted in a chaotic scene where the woman and another Thai man brandished chairs in an attempt to confront the tourist and his companions.

 

The Thai woman involved later detailed that the clash began when the foreign man, allegedly using racist language, spat at her. The altercation escalated when he slapped her, prompting bystanders to intervene and leading to the events captured in the video. She emphasized that such alcohol-fueled disputes are frequent and detrimental to the area's safety and reputation.

 

Local media, including Channel 7, picked up the story, further amplifying concerns about nightlife-related violence in the Patong area. The incident has sparked discussions on social media, with many calling for stricter regulations and better management of crowded nightlife areas to prevent similar occurrences.

Nothing changes in Patong. The intersection of Bangla and Rat U near Jungceylon has always been trashy. It's chock full of  aggressive sex workers and low end sex tourists  No uniformed police presence either.

Phuket has become the preferred holiday destination for the dregs of French society, drug dealers etc that have the cash to spend and go somewhere where everything “ seems” to be allowed. And news, it’s not only males, the females too.

It started ages ago, maybe 15 plus years. I lived in Kata and often went into Patong shopping and a good restaurant. I noticed then the arrival of these thugs that had opened shisha shops and restaurants.  They did  as they liked, nobody stopped them, often using stolen credit cards. I have a home in the south of France and see how they have ruined quite a few towns and cities., Murders galore  , and using young kids as look outs and delivery boys. 
Now if not stopped, they will ruin Phuket and Pattaya .

I'm pretty sure the cops will get an 50k tea money on this, and the dude will walk

I'm glad my "night-life" days are well behind me. It seems to me that the violence in those areas are getting worse by the year. I'm quite happy to be a "homebody" in my elderly years.
