An intense Russian assault on Kyiv underscores Moscow's resistance to peace, according to Ukrainian President Zelensky. As he travels to Florida for talks with President Trump, Zelensky condemns the attack as proof that Russia does not seek resolution.

 

Involving nearly 500 drones and 40 missiles, the overnight attack killed two people and injured 32 others. The damage to energy infrastructure resulted in 40% of Kyiv being left without heating. Despite Russian claims of targeting military-linked sites, the assault primarily affected civilian areas, causing widespread destruction.

Why would anyone trust Putin?

Putin has no interest in peace whatsoever, because there is no way he can sell that to his hardcore nationalist base. Anything short of capturing the whole of Ukraine and enslaving its people is unacceptable. 

Why concede land ?

 

It's taken 4 years just to grab the crap they have. Let them burn out another 5 years with the same old nonsense. Eventually they will have to retreat because their is only so much Russia can spend - despite the rhetoric their economy is no bigger than Spains. 

 

Europe should incorporate Ukraine into it's sphere, and fund them on their own - only use european arms and weapons - that will disturb the Americans. Then claw back repatriations when they rebuild Ukraine.

 

Of course this has costs to human suffering, which is hard to rationalise sitting behind a phone in a warm appartment.

The only card Putin hold is the Trump card. He is a Putin's tool. By the way according to DeepState report, Russia gained 0.96781 percent of the total area of Ukraine since 2022. Seem nothing much settled on the battlefield by Russia to remotely think will lead to any form of surrender. Further no tax $$ been skimmed as the billions are in the form of weaponry. 

Of course all this is a game Russia is laughing they will never agree to any peace.

US did guarantee ukraine back in 1990's in return for ukraine handing over its nukes to russia, UK and russia also guaranteed ukraine in that deal

You really think Trump will take America into war if Russia break off the deal ? They won't even contemplate letting Ukraine join Nato.

So the logic it was somehow about protecting the homeland is for the fairies and thick people on social media. 

 

This was just a balls scratching, acting like a big man routine - and he thought he could take some more land over. His objective has failed. 

 

For America, if they let the European drag the war on and Europe sell their own defensive equipment to the Ukrainians - there industry would not allow that.

I was mocking the OP for his assertion that Trump is smart to avoid involvement with a security guarantee and Zelensky was an idiot to expect that this will happen. There was sarcasm is my post that Trump will honour any quarantee, pledges and promises. Trump is always at the edge of his pants and don't have the ability to collect his thoughts and most times reactionary to the occasion. So what he pledge to Zelensky is just a pique moment and could be rescind when Putin whisper to him.
