How can I get either all of the stray dogs removed or silenced?

I didn't right I hate dogs. The context of my post was I hate dogs running loose and out of control at night.

I think your context was clear... I'm of the same opinion... I too hate dogs running loose and out of control - daytime or night, making noise and also presenting a risk...

This has been an issue in Thailand for decades - little is done to improve this '3rd world' situation.

This has been an issue in Thailand for decades - little is done to improve this '3rd world' situation.

And as usual if any complain they say go home if you don't like it...! So they never improve anything over here..., no criticism allowed...!

The problem comes from animal loving nature of Thais, feeding animals when it's not their pet..., cats, dogs, monkeys, you name it. I guess in old days it was controlled by some other ways (not much food to go around anyway), or wasn't an issue, but in today's packed villages and towns and abundance of food it becomes a real problem.

Authorities are actually afraid of locals, we had stray cats and dogs issue, called a so called private fixer (!?) to sort them out (authorities wouldn't do anything), but he was threatened and sent away by locals...! 🙄

Some charity organisations actually feed strays and look after them, keep their population healthy and increasing....!!!??? Soon we will be living in a zoo ... 🤔 (Well, a real animal zoo..., than human one ...!)

Yep. Contracted until March.

What contract stipulates living in a tiny Isaan village?

As the Thai academic year runs 'May to March' I'm guessing he works at a local school...

That’s illegal, and the promotion of illegal activities are not allowed. Maybe someone should report your post.

Thanks, that makes sense.

Ok so he wrote he 'hates' dogs - but thats probably dogs here because they are a often a pest, especially in packs - so like me, its probable that he hates the unnecessary noise and risks they present, and the absense of control in a lot of cases when authorities do nothing about the issue - so that breeds a certain form of intolerance which grows to hate.

I hate unnecessary noise and find dogs barking all the time to be extremely annoying - I don't hate dogs, but I hate unnecessary noise they make - in the city or the countryside.

I hate yapping noisy dogs in the UK too (which is an 'owner issue').

Meanwhile - my mate (in the UK) has an awesome dog (Lab) and we regularly go for walks when I visit the dog is not brilliantly trained, but it hardly makes a noise - barks once or twice when someone is at the door, thats about it.

Noisy dogs in Thailand are as annoying as cokfnuks revving their bikes and racing them at night.

Thank you for a voice of reason, in response to an overly simplistic and very thin skinned reply.

"move to another neighborhood" is not sound advice, unless that neighborhood is near the top floor of a skyrise condo. The neighborhoods are all full of "stray" dogs. I have been here for a couple of decades now, and am an avid walker and bicycle rider. It has been my experience that the "stray" dogs are for the most part not strays at all. If the dog does something bad, such as biting someone, it's common not to be able to find anyone who admits to being the owner. However if a bad act is committed towards the same dog, the "owner" will often reveal themselves.

On the same token, we have asked some of our neighbors about their aggressive dogs, only to find out the dogs actually belonged to other neighbors further down the street and moved themselves into our neighbor's place because our neighbor thought they weren't being fed well enough and began feeding them.

A few blocks from our house there is a street that has only a few homes, there are about ten "stray" dogs that lay around in the street there at certain times of the day, but at other times are nowhere to be seen. That's because a generous fellow from a nearby neighborhood drives there at certain times during the day and dumps out a bucket full of dog food for them. There are truly stray dogs here...but it's not at all easy to discern which they are...at least that's been my experience.

we have a lady on our road that rides her scooter about 75meters past our house and lays out all kinds of food for the local slop monsters

I started scooping it all up and throwing it out ,, she kept bringing more every day

so I started scooping it up and driving down the road and dumped it in front of her house.. had the wife explain to her ( not nicely )

that if she wants to take care of them do it on front of her house .. cause they will not get a chance to eat near mine !

Should I hire folks with pickup trucks to capture the dogs and release them in another province?

I'm going to drive the dogs right back after they are dropped off.

Nothing wrong with dogs barking. Always good to have them around.

There's really only one question that comes to mind reading your silly OP: Who do you think you are?

I live in a tiny village in Isaan. Since I'm under the age of fifty, my ears still work well... too well. Sleep is damn near impossible sometimes. There are about ten to twenty nocturnal dogs in my neighborhood. I'm moving out of the country in March, mostly because of the nightly noise pollution. I refuse to do anything illegal, but I'm okay with losing face because I just don't give a damn. Do small villages have dog capture businesses? Should I hire folks with pickup trucks to capture the dogs and release them in another province? Chase stray dogs out of the neighborhood on foot while barking at them like a lunatic? Buy really big speakers and play the sounds of barking dogs and wolves on high at night so that nobody in the neighborhood sleeps? Put up anti-dog signs? What is an effective legal way to deal with this? I cannot overemphasize how little I care about what the others here think of me. When I first came here, I did... very much so. But seeing how they live, how they treat their animals, how little they care about sleep, I just don't care anymore. I just want to get some sleep at night while I count down the days until I can leave this country behind and never return. Any advice?

Earplugs! And good riddance!

Hes maybe someone who wants a night's sleep without hearing the mangy disease ridden mutts barking and howling all night.

Just move to a different country and the problem is solved if you are lucky.

Because that's such a simple solution, right? It has no effect on your life, other than little details like possibly pulling your kids out of school, selling your house and car, cancel your retirement visa in Thailand, close and then reopen bank accounts, change information on credit cards, taxes, etc.., and just find another country on a whim. If you don't like something there, just move again. Hop around the globe with your family and responsibilities every time something doesn't please you, and your problem is solved.

Ahh, the earplug solution thrown out so quickly by some AN members every time the subject of noise comes up, as if it's such a simple and nonintrusive solution. Personally, I hate wearing earplugs long-term as they make me feel claustrophobic, and after a while feel stuffy, sweaty and uncomfortable in my ears. I like to clearly hear and be aware of everything going on around me, a TV or radio program, a knock at the door, an alarm sounding, or some commotion going on outside my house. Definitely not a viable solution for me to spend my days and nights in my own home with plugs stuffed into my ears.

how can you be allergic to dog barking...i am sure it is not all night. It is natural sound. I am allergic to human noise but not to animal noise...lol

High pressure water gun. Injuy them badly. Hit teeir eyes or ringpieces

What a nasty <deleted> you are.

To the scaley <deleted> who gave me the thumbs down for calling out another <deleted> who was advocating "Injuy them badly. Hit teeir eyes or ringpieces" rather than suggesting a more humane and practical solution to the age old village "stray dog" problem. Have a nice day.

Since it's 20 dogs and just one of you, the most economical solution would be to blow your ear drums. Just one thing to do, and once completed, it won't matter how much they bark anymore as you won't hear them, and as an added plus, you won't hear any other noise either.

Thinking of going back to China.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

You've let the dogs get inside your head. Have you tried simply ignoring them? If you went for an operation they would put you under similar to being asleep. If dogs barked would you wake up? No.

So hear dogs? Instead of getting angry relax and simply ignore them.
