Actually the ebike would be the most dangerous, as can easily do 40+ kph. Tie for cycling in TH, though live semi rural. I wouldn't ride either at busy Krung Thep. But hey, most accidents are within a few kms from home.

Being on the roads is safe, compared to some of the stuff friends and myself used to do. Or some of the trill seeking stuff I've done. High risk, maybe not a good idea, being scared, doing it anyway, surviving ... living life, HELL YEA, what a rush.

A year old, but I doubt it's got any better.

"Around 20,000 people are killed every year on Thailand's roads -- an average of more than 50 a day."

If only these 20,000 people per year had a chance to "live a little" longer.

Firchrissake people, get a life! My friends and I did this all the time in our foolish youth. Most of us didn't die from it, either. 😜🤪

Extreme defensive driving has kept me safe. Actually needed more back in USA. 25yrs here, TH, and nobody has been at fault hitting me on the roads. Only 1 oops, and that was my fault.

A few more years than 25 in USA, and about 6 people tried to kill me on the road. That's just the ones that hit my vehicles.

I feel much safer here, on Thai roads.

Now you are contradicting yourself.

That is the first time I have seen a person who was not a Thai doing that in Thailand.

Sure but it's still obviously a stupid idea. If that truck makes any sudden lateral movement or slams on the brake you're looking at serious injury or death. I've drafted behind big trucks a few times and even though it's fun you can imagine how wrecked you'd be if it slammed on the breaks.

No chance - given all the news in Thailand about brake failure... The truck 'slamming on' its breaks is the least of that cyclists concerns...

Wearing a tie while cycling gives you a rush?

Truly the wild one!

A quick right turn would fix it too.

What about sudden acceleration?

actually that might even be a better manuever... good he may be around to tell others how "smart an idea it was for him to do that "

You stated, "Most of us didn't die from it".

May I ask did you attend the funerals " of your so called friends that DID DIE from it"?

He should just slowly speed up. The bike's bearings will overheat and seize, and he'll be thrown off. Ahhhh, yet another Go Fund Me. 🤣

Sudden acceleration could be a problem: he'd have been better advised to use a Thai train (although that could be slower than cycling in the first place).

Not dangerous if you are careful and everyone has done that themselves including myself when younger.Skateboard as well for some. For me not a issue
