Have some heart! They can´t have time for everything. The police are too busy trying to find prostitution in the city.

1st you need a police force. There's a woman who parks her motor bike every day causing traffic chaos at Mike's Shopping Mall entrance on 2nd Road. She sells contraband cigarettes. It is a short wa

'Pattaya's Image Hit by Brazen Sale of Sex Drugs'

Are you kidding me?

As we have been informed by Thai Politicians … prostitution does not exist in Thailand. So this being the case, they cannot be busy finding something that is nonexistent.

They never give up. Searching all the time.

I think the commentary is a bit silly. Having sex stimulants and aids on display for sale is hardly the crime of the century, when sex itself is being openly sold adjacent and widespread. Or is having a working girl/whatever handy a form of 'tester'?

True, if sex toys are banned from sale, why aren't human sex toys which are also banned allowed to be sold unchecked? 😁

Tourists and locals are raising alarms over the open sale of sex stimulants, sex toys, and illegal cigarettes along Pattaya Beach Road. Without proper tax stamps, vendors blatantly display these items without fear of legal repercussions, damaging the city's reputation as a prestigious tourist destination.

Complaints highlight a brazen display of these products, particularly in tourist-heavy areas. Vendors have even rented shopfront spaces to showcase sex stimulants, sex toys, and various cigarette brands, with no regard for law enforcement. This open selling poses safety risks to consumers and tarnishes Pattaya's image.

Similar activities have been reported in Buakhao Alley, Pattaya Second Road, and the beachfront. Sellers display goods in car boots or tourist gathering spots, exacerbating the situation and risking the safety of visitors. Tourists and residents are urging authorities to intervene promptly and enforce laws stringently to curb these illicit activities and protect Pattaya’s image.

Authorities are now under pressure to tackle this issue seriously. Residents demand strict law enforcement to prevent recurring violations and maintain order, crucial to preserving Pattaya's status as a world-renowned tourist hub, reported Khaosod.

Key Takeaways

  • Open sale of illegal items damages Pattaya’s global image.

  • Authorities are being urged to enforce laws more stringently.

  • Tourist safety and city reputation are primary concerns.

"Pattaya's Image Hit by Brazen Sale of Sex Drugs in Tourist Areas"

I think of it more like, Pattaya's already negative Image hit further by the brazen sale of sex, drugs, in tourist areas in full view of the authorities.

Illegal ( fake) cigarettes have more toxic chemicals than real ones and who knows what is in the fake viagra being sold - but really its like all illegal sales if no one buys then there would be no one selling

Have they any clue what the image of the city is??? Known all around the world as the sex capital....for more than half a century already and now they are worried???? Of course as long as they stick their head in the sands, and keep telling there is no prostitution, the gogo bars are only for show and a drink and there are no drugs, you don't need to take any action in which way

Of course they do, that is why they do nothing to enforce the law as it would deter the type of tourist who goes there, it would be like shooting themselves in the foot plus no backhanders to be had. 😃

Not as a "family friendly resort", then?

Can't see a thing on the second pic! The taker must have been shaken by the variety of goods on display! 😄

Any foreign male living in pattaya is probably a big epstein fan. All that bs about the beach and the cost of living and culture and the weather. If anyone hears you live in pattaya, they should automatically assume you are there for the prostitutes and highly suspect of doing worse, like epstein level stuff.

As you have no proof of such activities , the "Epstein level stuff" exists only in your head,

Presumably, you think by mentioning the above, that you have pre-emptively cleared your name ? well just the opposite I think you should seek help , get your self checked out, along with your hard drive.

Thís has been going on like forever.

I think these vendors have a warning system in place : they pay off the local cops, who give them advance warning of a raid. They quickly pack up their illegal merchandise, and hide till they get the all clear again.

But those lime green foot long dildos... That's not family friendly.

My friends went to Pattaya and all I got was this lousy shrek dong.

What would tarnish Pattaya's image, and no doubt, spoil a few holidays, possibly resulting in a loss of repeat business , would be if there was a shortage of these products

Nobody is complaining, nobody is calling for a ban, and nobody is outraged, I think it's called journalistic licence

Nobody really believes that Pattaya is a "family" resort or has ever been reputed to be one

The tired old statement beloved of some on this forum, about there being no prostitution in Pattaya was not meant to be taken seriously (obviously)

Nobody thinks that the reputation of Pattaya is damaged by this in anyway whatsoever

However due to a big dose of shame , embarrassment and saving face various members of the authorities feel the need to protest their dislike occasionally and to distance themselves from the activities they are fully complicit in,

Its a Thai thing. If you understand , then there is no need for me to explain, and if you don't then there is no point in me trying

The undeniable fact, is that Pattaya was built on sex and sleaze and its sex and sleaze that keeps it going , nobody, but nobody wants to kill the goose that lays the golden egg, despite what they may say in public. (except perhaps a few elderly puritanical expats on this forum)

Long may the sleaze of Pattaya continue, Those annoying families can find far more suitable places to take their screaming snotty nosed kids

Adults should be free to make decisions on their own as long as their actions don't harm others.

The omnipresent electronic surveillance is annoying me WAY more than the occasional Thai person trying to make a living (as long as they don't jump into my faces or pester me).

Where are the "ladies" & "clients" going to purchase the necessary if not on Beach Road ? looks like it goes all hand in hand to me.

Will there be a video in next week's news of the police burning thousands of confiscated packets of viagra? If so, will the smoke be blue? 😂

  1. No one has ever claimed there is no prostitution either in Pattaya or Thailand.

  2. "They", and presumably you're referring to the authorities, have not been sticking their heads in the sand and just started complaining now, these complaints are coming from locals and tourists, not the authorities.

I have never heard it from a Thai politician, I keep hearing it on here, though god knows its getting a bit tedious

I reckon the biggest things impacting the image of Pattaya are the lack of enforcement of all laws, the dodgy transport from Bangkok to Pattaya and the rampant corruption slowing the delivery of the much-needed infrastructure improvements. I'm sure there are others, but I somehow doubt a dodgy sex toy would make most peoples' lists.

What"dodgy transport" is it that needs police attention?

I really do struggle to accept that Pattaya has a reputation as being "a prestigious tourist destination"

I live in Bkk but had to go to Pattaya regarding my visa

I retained One Stop who are based in Pattaya who were great

Unfortunately their Office is on Soi 6 so I had to go along Soi 6 on several occasions

All I can say is that "prestigious tourist destination" were the last words on my mind as I fought off many ladies and lady boys- all of whom clearly needed to go to an Optician given their all calling me a handsome man!

Selling cheap rubbish on Beach Road is not going to lower the tone of that road at all from what I saw in my 3 visits to Pattaya

But the same can be said for the tourist girly bar area in Bangkok, like Soi Cowboy etc, they only makes up a small part of Bangkok as the sex tourist areas of Pattaya only make up a small fraction of the whole of Pattaya.

You say to many people in the world the name Bangkok and many who have never been there will think, hah, the Sex Capital of the world, it is not true as we know.

I do take the pissss out of Pattaya on this forum but in reality I am only taking the pisss out of the tourist areas.

There are lots of other areas with fine dining areas and shopping malls and the like where many farang tourists do not know of, the locals do though I expect.

''damaging the city's reputation as a prestigious tourist destination.''

Pompous bull<deleted>

Wait what?

Pattayas image is already as Sin City of Thailand with majority of prostitutes and those going there as a majority of sex buyers.

You're right. The adult entertainment areas do only make up a small part of Pattaya and can easily be avoided--by tourists and residents alike. I've lived here 15 years and walked on Walking Street once. Soi 6 is just one block of greater Pattaya, which encompasses quite a large area, from Naklua/Wongamat in the north to Bang Saray in the south. Much of the new, nice development is family-oriented and about as far from Walking Street as you can get and still be in the beach tourist areas.

Families can stay at one of the nice resorts like the new Centre Point Space or Centara, go to Nong Nooch Gardens, one of the new water parks like Ramayana, take in Columbia Pictures Aquaverse, the aquarium, Tiger Park, Dolphinarium, snorkeling boat trips, the new go-cart track, Ripley's, etc.

There's plenty to do here for families, despite what some AN posters would have you believe. Right now, Centre Point is building a massive, third beach resort, even bigger than the first two they built here. Centara just did a big makeover. There's obviously a growing family market here that is justifying these huge expenditures by private industry.
