Trump's 100K offer to Greenlanders a sucker's deal

Featured Replies

Consider this.

You're a Greenlander meaning you're a Danish citizen.

That means you're covered by Denmark's social programs.

Especially health care.

100K USD and lose all that?

That's a very low ball offer.

A fair offer is more like a million dollars.

Penny for your thoughts?

Offer them a house in Miami or Laguna Beach. Surely they'd rather live there.

He is paying for/allowing occupation/clearance/takeover of Gaza as the world does nothing, why the fuss with Greenland?

A friend of mine from the Netherlands recently put his mother in a rather luxurious nursing home, he said it's the equivalent of many five-star hotels that he's been to. She has a large, luxurious room with a private balcony overlooking the river. His total outlay is 900 euros monthly. A trashy facility in the US is $9,000 a month and a nice facility is $15,000 a month and up.

I know couples who spend $2000 to $3,000 a month on health insurance alone, in the US. Same with pharmaceutical drugs. Out of control pricing, despite the goons promise of a 1500% discount! It is an unregulated mafia. Just another reason why Greenland and Canada would never choose to be a part of the US. In the process their quality of life would diminished dramatically.

In Denmark, the welfare state is characterised by an extensive social security system and a high degree of income equality. All Danish citizens have equal access to education and health care regardless of their social and financial background. Similarly, every citizen is entitled to a limited compensation for loss of income due to unemployment, disability, or illness – just to name a few of the public services that the welfare system provides.

The welfare system does indeed benefit each individual citizen but the main purpose of the Danish welfare model is to ensure healthcare and education for all citizens in order to provide high quality human capital/first class employees of great benefit to the taxpaying companies and hence to the Danish economy.

In other words, the polar opposite of the US, where if an older couple does not have hugely expensive health care, they could lose everything with one illness.

So, why would any Dane choose to be American? A land owned and controlled by Big pharma, corrupt lobbyists, greedy out of control corporations and a highly dysfunctional government and an insane president. They would also have to be insane.

Trump certainly believes that money can buy anything- he has certainly purchased a great deal of arrogance, selfishness and stupidity.

100k is peasant money. My every single friend from Serbia has more than that in their account plus at least one property worth minimum 200k Euros.

A million would also be a bad deal as it would devalue the currency overnight, or more likely months or years before the deal was made.

A fair deal would be 200 ounces of gold for each citizen.

Icelanders----WHOOPS---GREENLANDERS need to do some medium term thinking.

If they play their cards right, they can get Trump to put together a Coalition of the Willingly Foolish to pony up a few hundred billion dollars to "buy" Greenland. Denmark could extinguish its national debt plus hand every Greenlander $10-20 million.

Then, when President Newsom takes over in January 2029, he can give Greenland back to Denmark.

Ka-ching!

Offer them 100K and a gun , so their society can turn out like the USA ,

You are guaranteed minimum retirement vage, free schools, unemployment benefits, kids have free dentists, Denmark have 5 or 6 weeks holidays + official holidays, one year paid leave when giving birth, kindergarden, healthcare

And just to polish and back it up with AI

Social Benefits in

Denmark

Denmark is known for its strong Nordic welfare model, which provides extensive social security funded by relatively high taxes.

👵 Retirement & Income Security

  • Guaranteed minimum pension for all residents (folkepension)

  • Additional pension savings through employment schemes

  • Ensures elderly people can live without poverty

🎓 Education

  • Free public education from primary school to university

  • University students receive monthly financial support (SU), not loans

  • Private schools exist but are heavily subsidized

💼 Unemployment Benefits

  • Unemployment insurance available through voluntary funds (A-kasse)

  • Can replace a large portion of income for up to 2 years

  • Active job-search and retraining support

🦷 Healthcare & Children’s Benefits

Universal healthcare: doctor visits, hospitals, surgeries are free

  • Children receive free dental care until age 18

  • Subsidized medicine costs

👶 Parental Leave

  • Around 52 weeks of parental leave per child

  • Paid leave shared between parents

  • One of the most generous systems globally

🧸 Childcare & Kindergarten

Guaranteed access to kindergarten/daycare

  • Heavily subsidized by the government

  • High standards and trained staff

🏖️ Work–Life Balance

  • 5 weeks of paid vacation by law

  • Many workers get a 6th week

  • Plus 11 official public holidays

  • Shorter working hours compared to many countries

Important Clarification

These benefits are not “free” in the strict sense:

  • Denmark has high income taxes (often 37–55%)

  • Citizens trade higher taxes for strong social security and equality

Even high taxes, this is something that benefits Greenland greatly,

Inflation adjusted.

Another point is net or gross.

Even the 100k would shrink if taxed same year.

The 100k offer is insulting regardless.

No amount of money would be enough. It is ALWAYS clawed back or stolen. That is the point of the system.

Of course. Or make every Greenlander a Federal Government employee at G12/G13 pay grade. "Greenlander" would become a job description. Much better tham "thug", as in ICE.

That would be only about 90 000 positions, still a bargain.

Imagine going from that lifestyle to becoming the subject of a wannabe gangster king, presiding over a broken down nation, in a dramatic state of decline towards the very end, and the last days of the empire.

That would require a heavy degree of foolishness, ignorance and lack of reason, to sign up for something like that.

I dunno. Bringing a few of the Viking heritage lads down to the lower 48 states, get them ICE uniforms, and let them loose on the illegals would be a treat to see!

Goodness, MAGAs are so fascist, especially when it's others doing the wetwork.

No wonder they worship the bone spurs coward.

I have a Trumpy Bear in the place of honour in my home. I light candles daily and say a prayer for his safety and care. Sometimes leave offerings of cheeseburgers or a Hershey bar.

You don't?
