A fire erupted in a townhouse in the Ngam Charoen 3 village in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province, early Tuesday morning, nearly consuming the property. Firefighters were promptly notified and dispatched from the Nong Prue municipality to control the blaze.

Upon reaching the scene, authorities found the fire raging on the second floor of house number 45/79. They quickly laid hoses and effectively doused the flames, bringing the situation under control shortly after arrival.

Ms. Sangmanee Yokkong, age 28, the homeowner, revealed that the fire started due to a candle her 10-year-old daughter used in the bathroom. The child had failed to extinguish the flame, which eventually ignited a plastic part of the bathroom, spreading the fire. The family had been without electricity and water for three months, relying on candles due to unpaid bills.

Investigations confirmed that the unattended candle was the cause, having ignited materials in the bathroom. Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were reported as a result of the fire.

Looking forward, likely steps include assessing the damage and determining necessary repairs. This incident underscores the hazards of using open flames in homes, especially for families facing utility challenges, reported Khaosod.

Key Takeaways

  • A candle left unattended by a child caused the fire.

  • The family lacked electricity and water for three months.

  • No injuries were reported in the incident.

What the <deleted> >>> ?? don't they mean - Child left unattended with a candle ???

It never ceases to amaze me the mental gymnastics Thai folk will go to to avoid owning up to responsibility.... in this case they blame their child for their terrible parenting.

Well their electricity supply was cut for 3 months already because of unpaid bills, so there must be a reason for that.

Too late to edit the post - I missed the part about them being without electricity for 3 months...

Thus: the family were clearly struggling - and showering by candlelight had clearly become the norm.

A poor family whom it appears could not afford to pay their electricity bill has been struck a further blow - this really is very tragic.

It looks like they've now lost everything, even somewhere to stay.

Even more so, I believe very low levels of consumption are very cheap or free here anyhow.
