And the gun made the ICE guys nervous.

That's exactly the point. They had a nervous breakdown.

Who in their right mind would put a badge, a uniform and a 9mm Parabellum in the hands of someone prone to nervous breakdowns, and send them to face a screaming and cursing crowd?

One ICE guy removed the gun, but the others were not aware of it.

There was too much chaos going on.

Factor in split-second to make a life or death decision.

There are pictures online with his hands in the air, one hand was empty, the other hand he held his phone.

If they didn't know the gun was removed, they obviously also couldn't see a gun on him.

Yeah but the ICE agents probably assumed he was reaching for his gun. Someone yelled "gun" just before the shooting.

You are watching slow motion video. They are experiencing it in real-time and only have a split second to react.

And in those situations, they would rather be safe than get themselves killed.

Your "fascism narrative" is total bs.

Utter rubbish!

These are supposed to be trained experienced "law enforcement officers". One of the shooters is reportedly (God help us) an experienced firearms instructor! Their training, as in the case of Renee Good, is supposed to prevent exactly this sort of thing happening. It is supposed to be drilled into them so that at times of stress, fear or perceived danger the training kicks in. That is the whole point of the training.

10 rounds into the body of a man lying on the ground?

It was a hysterical killing frenzy by angry, panicked, out of control agents, acting as a thuggish rabble, who if they had ever been properly trained (doubtful frankly) certainly abandoned their training as soon as they felt threatened.

someone yelled "gun" ...

go try to do this job for 6 months with all these angry mobs and then get back to us.

do you think cops will put someone else's life above their own?

if they are not sure, they will shoot.

how long did they try to subdue him before they finally pulled the trigger?

if they were trigger happy, they would have shot him right away.

only a complete and utter idiot tries to resist arrest with several cops trying to take you down. do you really think you will get away unscathed?

at the very least, you will get a major beatdown.

You are providing lame excuses to defend your master.

The angry mob is there for a good reason, it is because they are unqualified murderers.

Nah, I am trying to remain objective.

Although both killings could arguably have been avoided, doesn't mean they are trigger happy or fascists.

Neither are you the one on the streets tolerating hostility and abuse from hostile crowds for months on end or doing a job which is putting your own life at risk. So please go try it and then get back to us.

People have negative perceptions of cops since the beginning of time. They are putting their lives at risk in their jobs.

Leave the poor immigrant alone and open the borders and let millions in

Fox News said Tom Homan should be sent to Minnesota — 20 minutes later, Trump did exactly that

Every good president listens to suggestions of his cabinet.

A reminder of the infamous lies propagated by Trump's sycophants!

Gregory Bovino, Border Patrol commander-at-large: “During this operation, an individual approached U.S. Border Patrol agents with a nine-millimeter semi-automatic handgun. The agents attempted to disarm the individual, but he violently resisted. Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, a Border Patrol agent fired defensive shots. … The suspect also had two loaded magazines and no assessable I.D. This looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement.”

Noem: “This looks like a situation where an individual arrived at the scene to inflict maximum damage on individuals and to kill law enforcement. [Pretti] showed up to impede a law enforcement operation and assaulted our officers. They responded according to their training and took action to defend the officer’s life and those of the public around them. [Pretti] committed an act of domestic terrorism.”

White House Homeland Security adviser Stephen Miller: “A domestic terrorist tried to assassinate federal law enforcement … The state’s entire Democrat leadership team [has] been flaming the flames of insurrection for the singular purpose of stopping the deportation of illegals who invaded the country.” (Miller has also described Pretti as a “would-be assassin” who “tried to murder federal law enforcement.

Is Alex Pretti's shooting death in Minneapolis a turning...

On Monday, Trump said he was sending White House border czar Tom Homan to Minneapolis. Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino and some of his agents are expected to leave the city.

After the second murder of a Minnesota ICE protester by federal agents, Jon Stewart breaks down the increasingly unhinged gaslighting from Trump officials, who are trying to paint victim Alex Pretti as a "domestic terrorist" and ICE agents as innocent kittens, despite clear video evidence to the contrary. And as MAGA and Kristi Noem ignore even their precious Second Amendment in their attempts to justify the shooting of a legally armed citizen, Jon points to the real weapon threatening this administration: cameras.

All of the politics aside when you're legally armed in the US you need to follow specific protocols when interacting with the police. Even a routine traffic stop can end in fatal shootings for the police so they are on edge.

Best advice here is to obviously never get in a fight with the police while you're armed. They can't see everything we do on slowed down video and they make split second decisions based on imperfect information.

If you really want to go out and fight with ICE, put the gun down first, otherwise you're basically committing to a battle to the death.

Chaos ensues, one officer removes his gun, another yells "GUN!" The other officers don't have the slightest chance of figuring out what's going on, and two of them, just in case, fire 10 9mm bullets into the poor wretch's body.

This is a near-perfect description of an unprofessionally conducted police action.

The very first rule officers must follow when dealing with a crowd that protests, shouts, insults and is potentially violent is to stay united and compact so that officers have each other's back.

Any action must be coordinated. Individual initiatives are banned.

In the videos we clearly see an ICE idiot chasing Pretti with the sole purpose of spraying pepper in his eyes, finding himself isolated. Without pre-agreed plan, without coordination, other officers arrive to help him, they all try to do the same thing at the same time (subduing the poor Pretti), panic ensues and Pretti dies.

This shows that ICE is unprepared to deal with a crowd of protesters. Two deaths in a few days (plus all those we've lost count of) are more than enough evidence. "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".

And with the midterm elections approaching, don't even try to tell me they're rigged. Republicans will reap exactly what they sow.

By your own words, what we see is "chaos", "unawareness", "yelling", "struggling" and officers continuously put in the position to make "life or death decision in a split-second".

It's time to change or pay the price.

too bad Minnesota law enforcement is not allowed to cooperate. The powers that be in Minnesota prefer letting illegal alien child rapists and other criminals run wild in their city So they can agitate against the feds who are going to be investigating a lot of them for their ties to fraud

Maybe so but if your protest is wresting with police while armed you may get shot and the government is going to back their own employees instead of you. Protest but just don't fight with the police and none of this has to happen.

Yes, that's the key phrase --- just in case.

First of all, they only have a split second to make a decision. And do you realy think cops will put your life ahead of their own?

After you have been obstructing traffic, resisting arrest and are carrying a firearm? Sorry pal, that's not how it works.

The other key word is "chaos".

He did not interfere with" law enforcement".

He was trying to help a lady who was being pepper sprayed, the "law enforcement" pulled him away from that lady.

Five or six men jumped him and started to beat him, someone took away his(legal) gun and he was shot

(murdered) right after that.He was also pepper sprayed.

Your turn to say what you saw?

I saw a murder!

Did you hear what the one guy said right after the murder?

Is ice now deciding who is to live and who is to die?

Pretti was NOT shot by an ICE agent.

Alex Pretti could have easily avoided getting his ribs broken while assisting federal agents a week before he again commited an act of domestic terrorism against CPB while armed and was again rewarded for his stupidity.

According to Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino, the federal agents involved in the shooting were conducting an operation to detain an undocumented immigrant with a "significant criminal history". (Jose Huerta-Chuma)

Minnesota court and the Minnesota Department of Corrections records contradicted Bovino's claim: no person of the name given by Bovino had any criminal history in Minnesota and only had misdemeanor-level traffic offenses from more than a decade previously.

A witness in a doughnut shop near the location of the incident told news outlets that a man entered the shop and the door was locked, denying federal agents entry. This reportedly caused federal agents to call for backup and become aggressive toward observers, including Pretti.

Does that include preventing inquiries by, and withholding access to evidence, in the event of entirely legitimate attempts by State and local authorities to investigate public shootings on the streets within their jurisdictions?

I just thought I would ask?

Just in case - Would justify the drawing of weapons. Discharge of the weapon is subject to an assessment of any imminent threat posed to life by a person holding a deadly weapon. Pretti never put his hands on his weapon as it was taken from him before the shooting.

Obstructing Traffic and Resisting Arrest - In the first place there is no video footage showing any evidence of those two crimes, which in themselves do not justify deadly force.

Carrying a Firearm - A legally licensed permit for concealed carry and the weapon was never drawn nor flashed. I think you may wish to discuss 2nd amendment rights with the NRA.

Chaos - Officers are normally trained to deal with high stress situations, or chaos as you describe it. In this situation the chaos was started by ICE who confronted passive observers and the pepper sprayed them before manhandling them to the ground. Trained and emotionally controlled officers keep their distance first and observe the actions of alleged offenders before escalation, arrest processing or deescalation.

Training - ICE training for Enforcement and Removal Officers has been shortened from 6 months to 6 weeks.

All done from the comfort of my own living room; but with the luxury of several years as a Use of Force Instructor in a professional police force with comprehensive and effective training standards.
