Americans: What Pistol or Revolver Do You Carry Concealed

Featured Replies

Many of us have carried a gun regularly, either via CCW permit and now, constitutional carry.

In light of the recent brouhaha, it would be interesting to see what folks carry. Im not talking about the field, or on range day, but in your day to day life. I doubt many of us strap on a 454 Casull for a trip to the grocery store.

So what was your EDC? Mine was a Seecamp .32 in the back pocket in casual wear, or a Baby Browning or Colt Vest Pocket when well dressed.

Did I carry, when living there, Glock 19, 9mm (15+1). Small flat profile and very comfy just in waistband, no need for holster. Almost impossible to shoot my little buddy off.

I don't carry on my person, but have a Rossi .357 in my car within easy reach. It also goes to bed with me at night.

Still own my Bersa .308 (PPK Argentina knockoff). but It has been a long time since I held a Commonwealth of Kentucky Concealed Deadly Weapon License. I think now it is just open carry in that state. and will be more time before I will return to my country.

I no longer live there, however, my Dan Wesson 357 was my handgun choice....

If out trail riding my saddle gun was a Marlin 357 carbine.....

When we return, I will likely get a Walther PPK .380 or Sig Sauer P38.

I used to carry a 7.62mm L1A1 Self Loading Rifle, then as I grew older a 9mm L2A3 Sterling Sub Machine Gun, and then a 5.56mm L85A1 rifle, and in my last couple of jobs a 9mm L9A1 Browning Automatic Pistol.

A benevolent Queen gave me all these weapons.

I must confess I never felt the urge to take them to bed with me - would have rather got in the way, and certainly cramped my style!

In the UK, I used to have a (legal) collection of concealed weapons - walking stick guns, umbrella guns, shooting stick guns, pen pistols etc. when I went to gun auctions, only those especially licenced to buy these weapons could bid...

"How much am I bid for this wonderful Victorian walking stick gun? 100 pounds anyone?.... er..... 50 pounds..... er come on what about 20 pounds..........."

"5 quid" I shout out!

"Sold to the miserly gentleman at the back for 5 quid!!"

Next we have another disguised weapon..." etc etc

My concealed weapon collection didn't cost much money lol

I kept a Colt King Cobra .357 Magnum locked in my briefcase.

Every carry it IWB?

As a personal policy, I didn't carry in public. I figured the liability wasn't worth whatever safety it would have brought me.

My collection included a 92FS, a Bersa .380 and a Makarov 9x18, along with some bigger guns that weren't concealable.

Either a 38 sub nose or a 9mm automatic ( most often ) for 28 years

Pulled out of holster 3 times ( other than cleaning ) pointed at a thief ONCE during a robbery - all good he gave up when faced by 2 people with their weapons.

No doubt from an American perspective you would think that, but as a non-American, I find the idea that in a developed country people feel the need to be armed simply going about their normal lives extremely sad.

I never felt the need to have, nor really needed. But comfortable feeling, I never had to worry about anything while O&A.

In Pennsylvania I carried a stainless Colt Mustang .380. Flat, dependable, with a 5-round magazine.

I also had two small derringer-size revolvers (perhaps from "American Arms", I am not sure). The one I carried for backpacking in the hills was chambered for .22 Magnum and had a nice folding grip for compactness. The smaller one was chambered for .22 LR, and I loaded it with .22 Birdshot when rock-climbing, especially when exploring new crags in untouched wilderness areas where I worried about coming up over a ledge face-to-face with a rattler.

Once the mere presence of my Colt .380 defused a potentially uncomfortable situation involving 4 thugs. I was dating my future wife, and we were hiking with her 2 young teenage daughters in the Allegheny National Forest. Four really creepy guys approached on 2 all-terain vehicles, and were yelling and smashing bottles against rocks. They sounded really insane, and as they got closer and closer in the woods, my fiancee and her daughters were all crying and quite distraught because we were so isolated.

As the guys were coming up right behind us, I took my Colt out of my belt pack and holstered it visibly in front on my belt. The guys stopped both bikes right behind me and shut off the engines. I don't know what their intentions were, but it was alarming. I turned around to face them, gave a friendly smile, and said, "It is a great day to be out in the woods, isn't it?" Four pair of eyes went down to the Colt on my belt and then back up to my eyes. A couple of them nodded in agreement, they fired up their machines, and they rode away.

My fiancee said "What just happened? Why did they go?" I pointed to my belt. She said "You carry a gun?!?" She didn't know. But the lesson was clear -- she applied for a concealed carry permit, and I got her a stainless .38 with subdued hammer. After proper instruction -- she shot better than me! -- she was unafraid to do solo hikes in the wilderness.

Same but always slept with my weapon on active operations, ready for immediate use, and on arctic ski and survival training in Norway (to prevent it seizing due to the cold).

Who gives a kangaroo's fart? What is it with these Americans and their infatuation with firearms? All very juvenile. When will they wake up?

Wake up to what?

t is sad, but usually not necessary in the average day throughout America.

I carried a pocket pistol daily, along with a penknife, no matter where I was. An armed society is a polite society

S&W .38 Airweight 37 revolver in the 1970 and 1980. Glock 19 starting in the late 1990s until I left the US in 2007.

The Dan Wesson .375 came in different barrel lengths. A 2.5 inch is easy enough to carry concealed. The longer barrel type would be better suited for carry in a shoulder holster. I knew cops who swore by .375. The term that comes to mind is a reference to the prep going down like "Struck by lightening."

Allot the cops in the USA were running 357s in the old days. .41s too.

I used to love S&W 19s and 27s. I harvested a deer once with a S&W 27.

My friends, family, and everyone I know solves problems by talking. A few nutters resort to fighting, road rage, guns, or other weapons. They get all the headlines, and gullible, uninformed people like you extrapolate from there.

Your country is a sparsely populated, and was ethnically homogenous low crime country.

Responsible armed Americans solve their problems without pulling the trigger until absolutely necessary
