People from middle class backgrounds don't understand that, as they take college education as something for granted, to be dropped for specious reasons. I see a huge difference between the hundreds of thousands of GIs post WW2, who took seriously the opportunities given by a degree education, and today. I find it sickening for people to disparage education.

Some education is overrated. Some of my friends & peers had quite a bit, and didn't help them much. Some it helped quite a bit. Others, like myself, got very little from 'schools/uni' and didn't need it. I'm the only person I know in my social circles that retired at 45.

Pretty sure most would have, if they could. Before you say anything, I could have easily stayed in the USA, and still retired at 45, if I chose to.

Most of what I learned, wasn't taught to me in schools. Self taught RE investor, stock market investor, chimney sweep, CDL holder, gunsmith. Pre emissions BS on engines, and I could take apart and rebuild the drive train of ICEV, except inside the trans. A talent you learn when too poor to pay a mechanic to fix your cars. Along with paint a car.

Working real jobs, before legally allowed to, though nothing toward a career. First self employment/business was about 26 yrs old. Yea, not exactly the ambitions fella, as having too much fun being irresponsible. Thank you Carter for forcing that motivation on me.
