So, the stats say that you have 16,902 posts and and an 'excellent' reputation of 1,773. Hummin has 21,880 posts and an excellent reputation of 19,832. Or, to put it another way (reputation/posts, as percentage), you score 10.4% and Hummin scores 90.6%.

Personally, I've always found that posters that have a similar (or higher) reputation score to their number of posts are the good guys (well done, Hummin 🙂).

I think, originally, was to get a sense of other regions and "touristy areas" of Thailand other than Phuket and Kanchanaburi - the only two places my wife, the children, and I had visited since 2010.
Later, post-divorce (the "children" were by then adults) it was getting insights into multi-visit and expat people's experiences and advice on visas and other administrative stuff. I found a lot of posters' first-hand posts very instructive.
Since about 2016 or so, it has been to read about people who live in other regions than myself and what news is missing from the various online newspapers.

During the pandemic, I read about the various limitations on our (Thailand) travel, the closure of our airports, the advances in vaccine production and disbursement in the ASEAN region, and also I read the Vietnam Forum to see what two of my friends that then lived there were experiencing through news articles so I had some sort of idea when I spoke to them when they were literally told to stay in their condos in HCMC and Da Nang respectively for a month and only have deliveries. I was (am) fortunate that I can walk for at least an hour on the property in the fresh air and not see another soul while they - and millions of others - were virtually imprisoned in a flat/apartment not much bigger than my bedroom.

Post Plague? Not much.

The news for the first, say, ten years was okay. Even the forums seemed pretty well balanced. Now it's inundated with weird and somewhat pointless questions being posed as threads, with even more noise and misinformation, trolling, and ad hominem attacks than actual substance so I try to limit my exposure to about an hour a month or so.

I rarely post. [Having said that, this is my second post today. I better have a lie down and rethink my life choices]

I joined when it was Thai Visa. It was a good source of Thai immigration information as well as local news

TBL was old. Moved back to NZ. He may have passed. He was a poster on Thorntree. He loved Koh Pha Ngan the Thong Pan beach area.

The 2005 to 2010 was peak forum days. Thorntree rocked.

There was a news report on an Indian Women having a mental breakdown and she was wandering around the town center completely naked and shouting at people , An ambulance come to get her and took her to a mental hospital where she was sectioned and kept inside the mental hospital.

One of the above was asking posters to go to the mental hospital and contact her and ask her if she wanted to go out for drink with him !!!!!!!
