I like this law, as a non-smoker I'm frequently a victim of secondhand smoke which is truly obnoxious, you want to have a cigarette walk over to the sidewalk, you feel like smoking at a restaurant wal

Their Country, Their Rules, Their Laws - would the ‘tourists’ break those laws in their own country had they been enacted?? - I think not. 5000 baht fine for each of them, advertise it on television,

You want to smoke?? go to a designated smoking area…….just like going to the bathroom, you wouldn’t poop on the beach because you have to walk a block to a toilet would you?? I know some people w]probably would. Peace

I like this law, as a non-smoker I'm frequently a victim of secondhand smoke which is truly obnoxious, you want to have a cigarette walk over to the sidewalk, you feel like smoking at a restaurant walk outside for a minute and spare everyone in the restaurant your noxious smoke.

In general I try not to be a judgmental person but I do consider smoking cigarettes to be an incredibly filthy habit and one that demonstrates a pretty significant lack of personal discipline.

I realize it's very addictive as the chemical companies add a hundred some odd ingredients to make sure that you continue to support them, but come on, if you decide to clean up your life, anyone with a fair amount of strength, discipline and will can conquer this completely ridiculous habit.

I am a former smoker, gave them up about 20 years ago. While I was smoking, I couldn't understand all the fuss from non-smokers.

Now I get it.

I remember thinking the same 20 years ago in California.

The 1950s are over Hoss. And I see smoking on beach going to be dropping a dimeScreenshot_2026-02-04-14-48-11-682_com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.jpgScreenshot_2026-02-04-14-48-23-987_com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.jpg

The stray dogs do that all the time...."black water" is often released into the sea for the tourists to swim in..the fields and forests continue to burn along with the black smoke belching diesel trucks...cigarette smoke is a minuscule "problem"

My "logical fallacy" is perfectly logical as the globalists have stated their nefarious aims

for everyone to know what they are up to..seems that some are just not listening. :-(

Many smokers believe they have the divine right to polute anywhere they feel like... wrong they should try considering the effect it has on others... but there is fat chance of that... you ever see a smoker picking up the butts they leave behind...rarely if ever?

Smoking is good and good for you..

They can make all the no-smoking-on-the-beach laws they want, but use your brain, people....

Before, it was the beach was no-smoking.

Then they made the walkway no-smoking too. So that leaves a smoker no place to smoke.

So if you leave a smoker no place to smoke, then they just smoke wherever they feel like smoking...

So the city has no one to blame but themselves for smokers smoking everywhere on the beach and walkway..

And considering there is about a 99.9% chance you will not be caught...

The smokers will continue smoking...

Yes it is their turf and laws and no the Thais break them law ALL the time. I can tell you’ve been here all of five minutes. Not a smoker but there’s every chance they had no clue they were breaking the law—how often are those signs posted? No excuse for ignorance, I get it, and secondhand smoke does suck, but they look like they’re in the middle of nowhere. Police on the take—them smoking there is not affecting anyone else—while pissant burning plastic in the city and umpteen polluting tuk-tuks chokes thousands and goes on daily unabated. Doubt those tourists will return. SMH.

The main issue to me is all the cigarette butts mixed in with the beach sand. One will never stop that happening if smoking is permitted.

This is the exact problem. There is no smoking area on the beach or walkway..

So smokers can now smoke any where they want because the city will not give them a smoking area...

Smokers are not going to stop smoking because of non smoking rules.

Not now not Ever...

Your angelic smokers leave their cigarette debris behind. I dislike having to walk through an ashtray, which is what many beaches looked like in high season before this rule was in place.

That's a littering problem ( Thais being the worst offenders IMHO)

not helped by the artificial beach they created now never gets washed by the sea..they need to buy more sand cleaning machines and use them everyday.

Rubbish getting swilled back into the sea is hardly a solution! Arming the lifeguards with BB guns night be an idea. Why on earth must the world accommodate these morons who smoke?

Just another way to make a buck. The lard assed foreigners wallowing around on the beach is very offensive to me. Maybe they should be banned.

Never understood smoking.

A sheeple has to overcome nausea just so they can become addicted to something that may well kill you, all while alienating people who prefer fresh air. In addition, people who smoke stink. And their breath! Goodness.

Well wear some shoes you'll need them for the broken glass, bottle tops, sharp shells, jellyfish

dog turds and all the other debris..and wear an N95 mask for the air pollution and wear factor 100 sunscreen for the UV protection but remember not to go swimming with that sunscreen on unless it is on the list of "approved for marine life safety" that'll get you a hefty fine as well

ohh and remember not to collect shells, touch any marine life ,feed or take photos of it either ! that should cover most of the rules but I'm sure they have a few lurking in a dark crevice to be brought out on a whim. 😋

Is it really as bad as it seems?

To a smoker, the entire world is an ashtray.

As long as smoking marijuana is ok it's fine. Anyone that smokes tobacco is a fool.

Exactly. I think fighting this form of pollution carries far more weight than the second-hand smoke argument. How many smokers do you see with their own, personal ashtrays?
