A viral video showing a foreign motorcyclist aggressively confronting a Thai schoolgirl and her guardian in Patong, Phuket, has sparked widespread public anger and calls for official action. The footage, circulated widely on social media, prompted demands for the rider’s identification, visa revocation and possible deportation. As of February 9, 2026, local police had not issued an official statement on the incident.

The video was posted on Facebook on Friday, February 6, by Jeerawut Wangnurak, who criticised the foreigner’s conduct in a caption accompanying the clip. He wrote, “Have you ever seen Thai people without smiles? Is this a free-visa tourist? He cut off a Thai motorcyclist in front and threatened Thai people like this.” Jeerawut also urged others to share the footage to expose what he described as unacceptable behaviour.

According to the post, the incident occurred in the Patong area, a busy tourist hub in Phuket. The footage shows an unidentified foreign man riding a motorcycle and approaching a Thai schoolgirl who was travelling as a passenger with her guardian. The man is heard shouting vulgar language at the pair, while the girl repeatedly cries, “Stop! Stop!” in visible distress.

The video ends while the confrontation is still ongoing, leaving the exact cause of the dispute unclear. Jeerawut later stated that the situation did not escalate further and that no injuries were reported. No further details were provided about how the encounter was resolved at the scene.

Reaction online was swift and intense, with Thai social media users expressing outrage over the foreigner’s behaviour. Many called on Phuket police to track down the rider, while others criticised what they see as lax enforcement of rules governing tourist conduct. Some comments focused on the ease with which foreign visitors can rent motorcycles in popular destinations such as Patong.

A significant number of users argued that threatening a child crossed a serious line and warranted deportation. Others used the incident to highlight broader concerns about aggressive driving and road safety involving both locals and tourists. The case has fuelled renewed debate over oversight of vehicle rentals and traffic enforcement in tourist areas.

Amarin reported that the incident echoes a similar case reported last month, when a Thai motorcyclist claimed he was repeatedly punched in the face by a foreign rider after a road dispute. Despite video evidence being shared publicly at the time, authorities did not release updates on whether the suspect was identified or arrested. In the current case, police have yet to confirm the identity or nationality of the foreign motorcyclist involved or if any action is to be taken.

Wierd!

Seems to be a Thai guy that the foreigner is angry with, and the schoolgirl butts in. Guy doesn't appear to speak to the girl.

I just don't see him approaching the schoolgirl at all.

"What the <deleted> are you gonna do you little <deleted>"

At the Thai guy ...... not exactly a threat.

He seems to be telling her to stay out of it, with what appears to be a british accent.

But still traumatizing for a young girl to witness violent behavior.

Doesn´t matter who he threatens or who he´s angry with. The child is there and need to witness just another moronic foreigner who just can´t keep his cool and engage in decent behavior.

Another Britisher....another Muay Thai expert after 3 hours of group training. What has happened the last few years, this kind of thing was virtually non existent. Well we all know...it's the "freedom" especially of ganga, and free visas. And it's not only the young, just this morning walking in the park, 3 elderly Chinese ladies walking towards me, the middle aged guy in front of me with his Muay Thai shirt and new yard gao tattoo walks right between them...how freaking rude is that!!! No respect for anyone. People like this need to be taught a lesson.

I don’t know you started the verbal but the Thai chap makes the first physical threat looking at the video. The girl and the Thai chap approached the foreigner they could have walked away.

If only he had done that near a taxi rank 😂

It’s a short clip. I see the farang angrily confronting a Thai guy…and the Thai guy angrily confronting back….., I see the Thai guy simulating throwing a punch which caused the farang to rock back, I see a school girl on the periphery at first and then rather than walking away, inserting herself into the argument and throwing some verbals at the farang.

An ugly situation where all three characters in the video contributed. No sign of what actually initiated the conflict or caused it to escalate to confrontation.

That’s what I see on the video and what happens regularly in incidents of road rage. Many incidents of Thai people shooting other Thai people over road rage. Any outrage about those?

I see the farang is automatically seen to be in the wrong, we need to see both sides of the argument not just a short clip.

I can see the Thai guy moved towards the farang made a gesture to strike the farang at which point the farang shouted, the girl inserted herself into the argument, the farangs comments were directed at the Thai guy.

The young girl was relishing the aggro.

Great restraint on the Brits part.

The Farang needs to understand the process here....admit you are wrong, Wai and move on.....no matter what went down.

It won't end well if you start something with the Thais, because they will all jump in and remind you that you are in Thailand.

Just another ignorant butthead, hopped up on adrenaline who can't control his emotions and in the process is making all foreigners look bad, in the eyes of many. It really doesn't matter what the circumstances are, if you take a deep breath and show some respect to the local people things don't escalate like this.

It's fascinating how Thailand has relaxed it's visa policy dramatically for tourists, while making policy considerably more difficult for law-abiding, and decent expats who are bringing a lot of money into the country. To some of us it just is another example of nonsensical immigration policy. Let in as many lowlife idiots as possible, while making life difficult for those of us who are showing decency and respect. And I wonder how much worse that's going to get under Anutin, who has long showed disrespect, disregard, and dislike for foreigners.

Well the weed shops will welcome even more people and all the nonsense they bring with them. Was hoping for a change but things are just gonna get worse. After 25 years of living and working n Phuket, Samui, Hua Hin, BKK, Pattaya and chonburi, I have found my paradise, no farangs, no pot heads, and no entitled aholes...next month retirement starts in earnest. 😊 😘 💕

To be fair, road rage is a condition that affects people from many different walks of life.

I don’t know this farang, he may just be a knobhead, but I don’t think it should be automatically assumed to be so. Certainly in this particular instance, the Thai guy behaved just as badly in front of the school girl, perhaps even worse, he is the one who pretended to throw a punch.

another one of those quality tourists we all love so much here
