For The Aussies

Featured Replies

It is with a sad heart that I read on news.com.au this morning that Heath Ledger died in NY in the last few hours.

It is so sad to see someone just at the start of his life dying like this, he had such great potential and already had an Oscar Nomination. If you do not know who he is/was then your will know him as Mel Gibson's son in The Patriot.

He also leaves behind a 2 year old daughter :o

I guess the only reason why I am even posting this is because during my teenage years Heath and I had become friends.

We first met at a New Years Eve party at Gloucester Park in Perth, we both had long blonde wavy hair, same ages (give or take) and our names rhyme. We met whilst buying a beer, he got asked for ID (he was 15 I was 17) but I didn't so I felt for him and upped my order by one for him. We ended up hanging for the rest of the night together, drunk and introducing ourselves to as many girls as we could, Hi, my name is Heath, and my name is (insert name that rhymes with Heath).

We met many times more and always had a good time, until he moved to the Eastern States and then the US to pursue acting.

Sad to see you go mate...RIP

May he RIP, Tuky.

Very sad to lose a good friend. Good memories are what's left.... :D

LaoPo :o

Very sad.

I heard about this just an hour ago and it is very sad. They are saying at the moment it was an accident.

I must admit though, i didn't know it was, until they started naming the films he had been in.

^ same as boJangle, I wasn't sure who he was until I read his filmography.

He is of course doing an awe-inspired portrayal of the joker in the upcoming sequel to Batman Begins - The director and star, Chris Nolan and Chris Bale, of whom I am an admirer - both were blown away by Heath's talent.

Rest well Heath. I wonder why you went.

T'is too often the good that go too soon.

Yep, terrible news. I started a thread on Heath this morning but rather than have it transfered here from the General forum, someone erased it altogether. :o I know it's not Thai related, but <deleted>...

RIP mate :D

I think you'll find your thread was moved to "Pub".

Very sad news. Like some of us here, a Perth boy. Very down to earth, was here over xmas and kept a low profile. Wrote to the newspaper to thank people for leaving him alone to enjoy his break.

A great talent who had a lot yet to give to the industry.

RIP

Very sad indeed, such a waste. RIP

So it is. Rarely go in there and there was no link from 'General' so thought it'd been deleted.

cheers

RIP Heath. :o

Sorry & condolences, to family & friends.

:o yes been all over the news here. hes infact one of my favorite actors...from his early career days in the hollywood industry...... 10 things I hate about you....I guess I kinda had a crush on his character in that movie.

its so so sad :D

Yes very sad, one can help but wonder whether this was an accidental OD or whether his personal demons got to him.

Either way, RIP Heath.

He really had a terrific future as an actor ahead of him, a great talent and also able to make smart choices. A rare combination in the acting world.

A sad loss to those of us who were moved by many of his performances and to you tuky, who knew him as a friend.
