Euro Ncap: Nissan Navarra And Isuzu D-max Death-traps!

Featured Replies

I wonder if the Vigo owners will rise to the bait and slate the competition about these results like the Isuzu owners did ??

Then again, maybe all the Vigo owners perished driving their unsafe vehicles too so there's no one left to comment :o

Here we go again :o

I am sure they are all safer than my 17 year old E30 BMW :D

Seems there are no NCAP test results for the Vigo yet, so I would expect Vigo drivers to hold their tongues for now.

Browsed the NCAP results for BMW and MB out of curiosity. Surprisingly they're no safer than many others.

They sure don't make them like they used to! It was felt that the big, steel monsters from the mid 1980's and before were too rigid and would transfer more damaging energy to the occupants during a collision. Cars were then designed to crumple up in certain areas to lessen the forces on the occupants. Nowadays, they've gone too far in the other direction by producing these Coke can like cars with tons of airbags. Yes, they're fuel efficient, but you must wonder about the safety. I'd rather drive a strong guzzler than an economical tin can.

Thats why I drive a Volvo 245, the ultimate of a massive steel brick :o:D

Already had a new Japanese car rear end me, smashed to pieces, headlights broken, radiator leaking, airbags popped out, and no visible damage at all to my car :D

The bumper (which has it's own gas filled suspension shocks) took the whole impact.

Monty...Is your Volvo 245 an oldie with a different engine/gearbox, or is it original? I was thinking of a car like a Volvo or an old Benz refurbished with a diesel pickup truck engine and a manual gearbox. It would have durability in the body as well as the drive train. With rear wheel drive, it shouldn't be too hard to set up.

Drive safely, drive Mitsubishi.

Agreed.

That article from the hilux thread about the Navara makes the Navara look like a complete catastrophe... I'm happy to see that they are testing pick-ups as they are an ever-increasing market and safety could become/is a huge concern.
