Female Monkey Business Time

Featured Replies

FEMALE chimps seek sex with as many males as possible rather than find the strongest, say boffins.

They will make a din to attract fit partners, but prefer several of any quality because males are less likely to kill a baby chimp they think is theirs.

Females also keep quiet during sex so that their rivals don’t find out and steal their males.

The team from Scotland’s University of St Andrews, who studied chimps in Uganda, said yesterday females had little interest in “causing males to fight over them”.
