July 2, 200916 yr and if you met them, were they anything like what you expected? And do their avatars play a role in how you imagine them? I will start I have always pictured Suegha as being tall, broad shouldered and kind. Since I have never met him personally, can't vouch for the tallness, but I think the kind is a given MrBoJ, I've always pictured as looking somewhat like his avatar. I am afraid to meet him in case he doesn't Boo was pretty much like I expected. Attractive yet Amazonian.
July 2, 200916 yr I don't create mental images of TV members as I see this as some sort of pre-judgement of them. If you like the person on TV and in person they don't measure up to your preconceived mental image then your relationship may be affected, possibly irreversibly. I always start from the assumption that an avatar doesn't represent any physical attributes of the person, but is more likely to represent some characteristic or personal interest of the member. In my case the chimp represents a somewhat mischievous and playful character.
July 2, 200916 yr In my case the chimp represents a somewhat mischievous and playful character. So you're not a hairy little knuckle dragger?

July 2, 200916 yr So judging by the posts on this thread to date, if avs represent the people behind them: sbk sees herself as Pebbles Flintstone; chimpy has an attraction to jungle animals; raro either identifies with 'Thing' from the Addams Family or is fond of his hand (!); and I like to flap in the wind. Food for thought
July 2, 200916 yr Those who imagined me as utterly handsome and irresistible are right. you took the words from my mouth
July 2, 200916 yr I cant share how Ive imagined members, cos I havent really given it much thought in the past. I might start from now on although, there are some that i kinda see as the avatar, even though i know they dont really look like that. Eek and Jet Gorgon for instance. Even though I know they dont look anything like their avatar, i imagine eek being this very young playful girl (not to say that in a bad way...just that i imagine her being very girlie girl, and very young) but I know she is infact a very elegant woman, athletic. jet - i imagine as being the beautiful medusa beautiful, sexy but dont mess wiff me kinda beauty now, as to what some members who have met me have said they thought of me: (of course I aint saying who said what....ohhh and these were not in their exact words, Ive added to make it more fun. and I have to add it was all said with a lot of love) young cutesy girlie girl with squeaky voice (or something like that and possibly gets excited by fashion and such) a footie hooligan (paint your own image of a footie hooligan) a BIG huge footie hooligan a BIG HUGE chocaholic a footie frenzied gal who goes EVERYWHERE in her footie jersey Im not saying which or all of the above are true or false ohhh also adding some early days remarks (not from those that met me, but those that made assumptions): another thai woman who is on TV so she can meet some rich farang to marry funnily those were the days I didnt make my gender known. I see myself as a gender-neutral (ie. I am neither a man nor a woman) anonymous forum poster
July 2, 200916 yr sbk was not how I expected her to look. I guess I would have expected to see sbk behind a partners desk in a law firm rather than the beach. tuky I had presumed was a handsome chap, but after a glance in the mirror I realised I was completely wrong. Funnily enough George was exactly how I suspecting him to look. All the OFCS were as expected. etc etc
July 2, 200916 yr I imagine everyone as incredibly good looking - why? Well why would I want any other mental image? Of course if I met anyone that image would be replaced but it certainly wouldn't damage my relationship with them. I am neither fast nor have white hair (well not much anyway)

July 2, 200916 yr MrBoJ, I've always pictured as looking somewhat like his avatar. I am afraid to meet him in case he doesn't
July 2, 200916 yr In my case the chimp represents a somewhat mischievous and playful character. So you're not a hairy little knuckle dragger? Usually not until after 1am when we have to stop swinging.
July 2, 200916 yr I do make mental pictures of posters and these pictures are almost invariably completely at odds with reality. Can't think of one single poster that I have met who actually matched up with my preconception of her or him. And everyone who meets me always seems equally surprised at what I look like.
July 2, 200916 yr Can't think of one single poster that I have met who actually matched up with my preconception of her or him. I'll second that motion.
July 2, 200916 yr I do form mental pictures of members, their av and personal photo will contribute to what I imagine. The few members I have met have all looked like I imagined. sbk got a good description, I'm very broad shouldered, although I'm only 5' 10"!
July 2, 200916 yr I'm not quite as hairy as my avatar. I shave every day, using conditioner in lieu of shaving gel. It works very well! (Should it be fabric conditioner or hair conditioner?)
July 2, 200916 yr Suega has always been a middle aged femme, a nice person, corrrrrrr, but that is the perception I get. Ping was a well dressed business type guy in my eyes......... umm, now I have met him, no comment. Has a nice gal. Humphrey Bear, a beachcomber
July 2, 200916 yr This is fun ^^ Hmm..lets see. Ok..sbk. When i saw her pic, i wasnt too surprised actually. I thought she would be tall, slim and elegant, and thats the lady i saw in the photo (no im not sucking up!!!!) I was surprised when i saw some pics of seonai though. I sorta imagined her with long flowing hair, so the short funky spiky 'do' took me aback. Miggy. Miggy is an anomoly as she seems on one hand quite girly with the talk of clothes and things, but on the other is an avid football fan. I think of her as a closet tomboy (tomboy in the UK meaning!! Which means a girl who likes some boyish things..not a girl who likes to dress like a boy and likes girls!). I sorta imagine her in all dolled up in nice clothes with some white wine in hand whilst screaming at the TV football match. Depending on whether her team wins or loses she then celebrates with either a few luxury chocolates or pigs out on chocolate pudding. Tigs...well i saw his pics early on..so thats the image i see. I think he would be absolutely lovely in real life. Neverdie. Aint he brilliant?! I see him as an older gentleman who is quite tall with a harmless but wicked sense of humour. I cant imagine him being seriously mean to anyone. Taddy..well ever since he said he was like Michael J Fox, i cant get that image out my head. Boo..since the Amazonian comment..i keep imagining some image from the poster of Attack of the 50 foot woman! <--Who dare dares to mess with that?!! Hmm..will think of more later.
July 2, 200916 yr Ping was a well dressed business type guy in my eyes......... umm, now I have met him, no comment.Has a nice gal. Hey? 35 years of wearing suits every day was enough for me, thank you very much!

I have my photo in my profile and several members of the forum have met me so can attest to it be a true likeness. CB
July 2, 200916 yr He'll probably strangle me for this, however, after meeting the chimp, I'de have to say the avatar is a fairly accurate represntation! Only joking. The one that has got me slightly confused at the moment is the gimp wrapped in duct tape.... Member doesn't come accross as a deviant.

And we all know your avatar is accurate even down to the surprised look on your face as if you have just been kicked in the goolies CB
July 2, 200916 yr Can't think of one single poster that I have met who actually matched up with my preconception of her or him. I'll second that motion. I can think of one. Having a picture of yourself being kicked in the testicles as an avatar is a fairly good indicator of someone with a very good sense of humour...... I was right on that score. (and no, I'm not sucking up either) //edit/CB getting in a testicle comment in while I was typing doesn't come as a shock either

LOL thats cos Im a true gemini Eek. split personality. but have to admit, I only started sharing the girl aspect of me in the last few months. prior to that i remember reading the ladies forum and thinking my gosh I have nothing to say! (still remembers a thread from a year ago that talked about applying mascara or some similar make up thread. It was worse than venturing into the techie world!!) now swap that white wine for a red (while not in thailand) or a margarita (while in Thailand), and you are getting close actually, i must try to think what the footie boys made of me... I cant recall...maybe they just ignored me? (cos they were too mesmerised by this beautiful sexy friend I took along to one of the games )
