It does seem that the embassy that issued the incorrect visa, in this case Bangkok, is contacted.

ECB19.4 Dealing with an incorrect endorsement query from RCU says

If an incorrect endorsement enquiry is received from RCU, Post should respond directly to RCU within 24 hours; confirming whether or not the visa was incorrectly endorsed, and, if incorrectly endorsed, advising of the correct endorsement.Where an incorrect endorsement has occurred, Post should update Proviso to confirm the error and what the correction should be

(my emphasis)

How long it takes for RCU to contact the post and then how long to process once they have received the information back, I don't know. But it does seem from the above that the matter should be dealt with quickly.

Having said that, what should happen and what actually does happen are often completely different, as this topic shows!

All I can suggest is that you contact the UKBA and enquire, the general enquiry number is 0870 606 7766 , but they do say that one should wait 14 weeks before enquiring about progress.

As for the IO when you entered, his remarks were well out of order, and wrong. There is no limit to the number of times any visitor can visit the UK as long as they continue to meet the requirements of the immigration rules; although a visitor may be questioned as to their intentions and purpose of visit if it appears that they may be spending more than 6 months out of 12 in the UK as a visitor.

I think, though, that you did the right thing in holding your tongue. There is no point in arguing with people like him; it only wastes your time and builds their ego!

OK, thanks very much for that, 7by7.

I have called that phone number a few times. They confirm that the passport was received, but every time they say that they cannot give any information as to how long it will take for my wife to receive the passport back.

I guess we just have to be patient. If it has been stated not to make enquiries until 14 weeks later, then we can afford to wait another month or two, before starting to worry too much. I am just glad that I sent the passport by recorded delivery so that there is a record that it has been received (we kept the receipt), because if the passport never made it back or got lost in the post, without the receipt I don't know what we would be able to do then.

Hi,

Settlement Fiancee Visa CONFUSION

My Fiancee has collected her passport from VFS Today, on looking at the visa, the date is from March 2011 to 2013, and my name is displayed on the passport as her spouse (were definatley not married).

We applied for a Finacee Settletment and I assumed that the Visa would be valid for 6 months and then we could apply for FLR after we got married.

VFS also seem a bit confused about this and are contacting the British embassy , unfortunatly they are now closed , so my Fiancee will have to stay in BKK and return to VSS on Monday.

The strange thing is they have let my Fiancee take the Passportt with her.

Does this seem odd or is this normal

Cheers

Dave

Sorry to hear owl that they screwed up, I hoping its not the case for ours.
