Honda Wave Czi Exhaust Leak

Featured Replies

Well, my little Mini Beast CZi is two years old and developed a hole in the front pipe near where the exhaust bolts to the exhaust port in the engine block.

I took it to the Honda dealer where I originally purchase the bike and, not, the exhasut system is not covered by warranty : A w exhaust system was 3k+ and they were not interested in repairing the leak.

( They did recommend a repair shop on Sai 3, near Soi 10 (?) and it was a good recommendation. The shop sells used bikes including a nice inventory of larger bikes.

I "roared" in (actually more of a lisp type leak...) and they immediately understood the problem and quoted me Baht 400 to replace the pipe from the muffler to the engine block. The mechanics unbolted the old muffler/pipe assembly and cut off the exhaust pipe at the muffler. Next they ground the cut flat. The new pipe arrived and they bolted the muffler to the bike and checked for fit, cutting about 1/2 inch off. After making a good fit, they tack welded the connection, then unbolted the exhaust system and finished the welding. The mechanic even spray painted the weld black then bolted the system back to the bike.

Total repair time was around 35 minutes and the exhaust is as good as new now :)

Highly rcommend the shop :)

Not wanting to be negative but it shows how little steel they put in bikes these days. Its also very disappointing for Honda; an exhaust should last more than a couple of years and shows they are not as bullet proof as they used to be? Exhausts used to be the part that never wore out!

I don't feel that your comment was negative; it was right on the money. Honda did "lighten" up the materials on my CZi and it was weird to have a hole so near the exhaust port. I suppose I could have patched it with epoxy, but I went ahead and had the more permanent repair.

Well Lancelot have been all over the Kingdom on his bike, so proberly a lot of k's on it. 400 bath well well, I am sure that you still have a happy new year
